A polyetherimide composition includes specific amounts of a polyetherimide, a block polyestercarbonate, a block poly-carbonate-polysiloxane, and a core-shell impact modifier in which the core includes a polysiloxane and the shell includes a poly(alkyl (meth)acrylate). Relative to a corresponding composition lacking the core-shell impact modifier, the polyetherimide composition exhibits increased impact strength while substantially retaining flame retardancy. Also described are associated articles, including articles formed by additive manufacturing, and a method of additive manufacturing.

A core-shell filament useful for fused filament fabrication includes a core, and a shell surrounding and in contact with the core. The core contains a block polyetherimide-polysiloxane. The shell contains a polyetherimide. When the filament is used in fused filament fabrication for printing a three-dimensional article, the core material remains surrounded by shell material. So, the printed article exhibits good interlayer adhesion provided by the shell material, and good ductility provided by the core material.

Methods of making articles using additive manufacturing processes are disclosed. The article is built up from a multitude of layers. At least one layer includes a modeling material comprising a cross-linkable polycarbonate resin containing a photoactive group derived from a benzophenone. When exposed to an effective dosage of ultraviolet radiation, the modeling material crosslinks. This improves various properties of the final article.

Provided herein are polycarbonate—polycarbonate-siloxane block copolymers, which compositions are useful in additive manufacturing applications. Additive manufactured articles made with the disclosed compositions exhibit mechanical properties that are greatly improved over existing additive manufactured polycarbonate articles, and additive manufactured articles made with the disclosed compositions exhibit mechanical properties that approach the corresponding properties of injection molded articles.
