摘要： Improvements in present day fire hydrants are presented. The improvement relates to a fire hydrant where the above ground structure is essentially removed and is replaced with an adaptable connection. The connection uses the same mounting hole pattern as used in the above ground hydrant. In operation, the adaptable connection is protected by a hinged cover that is opened to provide access to the adaptable connection. The adaptable connection includes a bayonet type connection where a portable fire hydrant is secured and rotated to start the flow of water. The adapter includes an electronic communication device that transmits real-time information on connection and flow characteristics. The adaptable fire connection eliminates the appearance of the fire hydrant, the potential of a vehicle hitting a fire hydrant and the material cost associated with above ground fire hydrants.

摘要： A pliers-like hand tool for removing headed plastic fasteners having a stem releasably anchored below a surface incorporates a pair of pivotably joined, wedge-shaped jaws and their associated handles. A spring positioned between the handles maintains the jaws open in readiness for insertion under the head of a fastener. A bend in the jaws provides a fulcrum for applying leverage against the underside of the head of the fastener. A series of graduated opposed elongated grooves formed in the edges of the jaws and oriented normal to the top surface of the jaws allow the user to apply controlled gripping force to the stem of the fastener in the region, adjacent the head, most prone to fracture by bending, thereby effectively immobilizing the stem with respect to the head of the fastener and minimizing bending of the stem in the sensitive region. In addition to thus greatly reducing the likelihood of fracture, by distributing the prying force over a relatively large area of the stem's surface, the orientation and shape of the grooves minimize damage to the surface of the stem which would otherwise render the fastener unusable.

摘要： An appliance warning system comprises a floor pad for location on or adjacent a device such that a user must stand on the floor pad in order to normally use the device. 摘要： An appliance warning system comprises a floor pad which has a switch movable between an open position when no weight pressure is detected and a closed position when activated by weight pressure. A transmitter transmits a signal depending upon whether the switch is in the open or closed position. A remotely located module has a receiver for the signal from the transmitter. A control circuit is operational between a ready state before the switch is activated to the closed position and a monitoring state after the switch is activated. A warning device is activated by the control circuit when in the monitoring state when the switch has been in the open position for a preselected period of time after having been in the closed position. A reset switch resets the control circuit from the monitoring state to the ready state.

摘要： The present invention is an apparatus and method that enables a single installer to attach panels, such as drywall sheets, to overhead surfaces without the help of a second person to support the sheet against a ceiling while the installer performs the fastening. Two components are included, a fixed shelf and a movable shelf. Each component is elongated to support approximately half of the edge of the panels, so that the installer need not manipulate multiple brackets before securing the panels to the ceiling.
