Abstract:
Various embodiments enable cell broadcast reception on a multi-SIM mobile communication device with first and second subscriptions for respective technologies. A multi-SIM device may measure channel conditions for the first and second radio access technologies, determine whether the channel conditions of the first radio access technology are greater than or equal to a threshold for receiving cell broadcasts, determine whether the channel conditions of the second radio access technology are greater than or equal to the threshold when the channel conditions of the first radio access technology are less than the threshold, and designate the second radio access technology to receive cell broadcasts when the channel conditions of the second radio access technology are greater than the threshold and disabling cell broadcast reception on the first radio access technology. A Voice or Data call mode on one technology may require another technology to be designated to receive cell broadcasts.
Abstract:
Access terminals are adapted to facilitate tune-away operations in situations in which multiple subscriptions are employed. According to one example, an access terminal performing an acquisition procedure for a first subscription may suspend the acquisition procedure to obtain a paging message for a second subscription. The access terminal can tune away from the first subscription to the second subscription and monitor for a mobile-terminated page. After a mobile-terminated page associated with the second subscription is received and processed, the access terminal may resume the acquisition procedure for the first subscription. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.
Abstract:
In an embodiment, a user equipment (UE) determines an emergency health condition for a user that is defined based on a set of health-related parameters crossing a corresponding set of thresholds. The UE receives health data from a set of health monitoring sensors that are each configured to monitor one or more health-related parameters of the user. The UE detects, while a restricted mode restricting access to a set of communicative functions of the UE is active, that the emergency health condition for the user exists based on the received health data indicating that the set of health-related parameters have crossed the corresponding set of thresholds. The UE disables the restricted mode in response to the detecting. The UE conveys, using one or more communicative functions from the set of communicative functions that are made available by the disabling of the restricted mode, an alarm related to the detected emergency health condition for the user.
Abstract:
Various embodiments provide methods implemented on a multi-SIM-multi-active (MSMA) communication device for managing a victim subscription's de-sense by reducing transmit power of an aggressor subscription's data channel(s) before reducing transmit power of the control channel. When the victim is being/will be de-sensed, a processor of the MSMA communication device may determine a de-sense power threshold at which an aggressor subscription may transmit without de-sensing one or more victim subscriptions. The processor may reduce the transmit power of the aggressor subscription's data channel(s) to within the de-sense power threshold. If zeroing the aggressor subscription's data channel(s) transmit power is insufficient to avoid de-sense of the victim, the transmit power of the aggressor subscription's control channel may be reduced until the total transmit power of the aggressor subscription equals or is less than the de-sense power threshold. This reduces de-sense to the victim subscription with minimum impairment to the aggressor subscription's throughput.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that provide for power management of wireless devices by selecting a radio access technology (RAT) from multiple RATs for communication. A wireless device may determine power usage for a data transmission for each of multiple RATs and transmit the data based at least in part on a the determined power usages. The power usage for different RATs may be determined based at least in part on channel conditions, average power, RAT throughput, or variance, among other factors.
Abstract:
Methods, systems and wireless communication devices are provided for maintaining wide area network (WAN) access information in a database accessible to a local area network (LAN) server. A processor of a wireless communication device connected to the LAN determines that the wireless communication device will enter a WAN associated with the WAN access information. The wireless communication device processor may obtain the WAN access information from the LAN accessible database accessible to the LAN server. The wireless communication device processor may use the WAN access information obtained from the LAN accessible storage device to enter the WAN from the LAN.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for of tracking network system timing are provided. In one aspect, a method for updating system timing information comprises determining a first periodicity of a plurality of first windows for a first radio access technology of a user equipment to access a radio frequency chain of the user equipment. The method further includes identifying a time between the plurality of first windows for a second radio access technology of the user equipment to access the radio frequency chain. The method further includes allocating a portion of the time between the first windows for the second radio access technology to update timing information of the second radio access technology.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a base station may generate a second neighbor cell list based at least in part on information that identifies a location of a user equipment (UE) and a neighbor cell measurement report associated with a first neighbor cell list configured on the UE; determine a length of a measurement gap for a measurement, to be performed by the UE, based at least in part on the second neighbor cell list, wherein the length of the measurement gap is determined based at least in part on a serving cell measurement report associated with the UE; and provide, to the UE, the second neighbor cell list and information that identifies the length of the measurement gap. Numerous other aspects are provided.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are disclosed that may selectively determine network connection information in a wearable wireless device. A wearable wireless device may communicate with a first wireless device associated with a wireless network, estimate a separation distance to the first wireless device, and compare a first network identifier of the wearable wireless device with a second network identifier of the first wireless device. The wearable wireless device may then selectively receive, from the first wireless device, network connection information for the wireless network based, at least in part, on the comparison and the separation distance.
Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure provide an improved out-of-service (OOS) scan method that can increase the speed of acquiring service while avoiding unnecessary full scan, thus reducing scan time and/or power consumption of a user equipment. In one aspect of the disclosure, if a user equipment fails to acquire service after scanning a most recently used (MRU) list, the user equipment scans for the networks or cells stored in a neighbor list before performing a wider scan or a full scan.
