    摘要: Disclosed are techniques for notifying a user of a wireless mobile device of the contents of a signboard. In an aspect, the wireless mobile device receives a notification in a broadcast message transmitted on a broadcast channel of a short-range wireless network, the notification representing the contents of the signboard, decodes the notification without connecting to the short-range wireless network, and provides data representing the notification to the user of the wireless mobile device. In an aspect, a wireless access point coupled to the signboard encodes the notification in the broadcast message transmitted on the broadcast channel of the short-range wireless network supported by the wireless access point and broadcasts the notification in the broadcast message transmitted on the broadcast channel of the short-range wireless network.

    摘要: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. The described techniques allow a user equipment (UE) to conserve power after transitioning from one coverage mode to another coverage mode based on power consumption estimates. The UE may make a determination on whether to modify its current extended discontinuous reception (eDRX) values by either triggering an unscheduled timing update or waiting for a scheduled timing update. For instance, the UE may estimate power consumption based on current eDRX values and the time remaining until a scheduled timing update procedure and compare this estimate to power consumption estimate based on modified eDRX values and the amount of power consumed to perform an unscheduled timing update procedure. Based on the comparison, the UE may update its eDRX values through an unscheduled TAU or through the regularly scheduled TAU procedure.

    摘要: Methods and devices for improving data throughput and page performance of a multi-subscription wireless communication device with a shared radio frequency (RF) resource may include detecting when a random access channel (RACH) procedure required on a modem stack associated with the first SIM in order to access a first network will coincide with a scheduled tune-away period for the shared RF resource corresponding to a reservation for activity on a second network supported by the second SIM. When such coincidence is detected, the wireless communication device may periodically transmit preambles to the first network with increasing transmission power until an acknowledgment is received or the scheduled tune-away period starts. When the scheduled tune-away period starts, the wireless communication device may pause transmission of preambles and record virtual preambles. When the tune-away period ends, the wireless communication device may continue the RACH procedure based on actual and virtual preambles.

    摘要: Methods and devices for enabling improved cell reselection procedures on a wireless communication device with a first SIM is camped on a serving cell of a first network may include receiving a list of neighbor cells from system information that is broadcast in the serving cell, and performing signal measurements associated with the listed neighbor cells and the serving cell, and, based on the signal measurements, identifying neighbor cells that satisfy selection criteria. The wireless device may calculate ranking criteria for the serving cell and the identified neighbor cells, and determine whether an inter-frequency neighbor cell has a highest ranking criteria among all of the ranked cells. Upon determining that an intra-frequency neighbor cell has the highest ranking criteria, the wireless device may start a reselection timer and also start decoding the system information that is being broadcast in the intra-frequency neighbor cell that has the highest ranking criteria.

    摘要: Access terminals employing multiple subscriptions are adapted for paging channel arbitration. According to at least one example, an access terminal can determine whether there will be a collision between a first paging channel associated with a first subscription and a second paging channel associated with a second subscription. The access terminal may additionally determine whether a time period between a paging indicator bit for the first subscription and the second paging channel is greater than or equal to an amount of time it takes to switch from operating on the first subscription to operating on the second subscription. The access terminal can monitor for a paging indicator bit indicating an incoming paging message on the first paging channel and, if no paging message is indicated, may switch to the second subscription to monitor the second paging channel for incoming paging messages. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.

In response to a determination that an operating temperature of the first communications unit conducting a first call exceeds a predetermined threshold temperature and an operating temperature of the second communications unit does not exceed the predetermined threshold temperature, the control unit is configured to cause the first call on the first communications unit to be switched from a first transceiver chain in the first communications unit to a second transceiver chain in the second communications unit.
