Abstract: In one example, a device for retrieving media data includes a memory configured to store media data, and a processor implemented in circuitry and configured to: process a descriptor of a manifest file of media content including the media data, the descriptor corresponding to an adaptation set of the media content and including data representative of a box of file level information that describes a property of a track of a media file of the media content including media data of the adaptation set, determine whether to retrieve the media data of the adaptation set according to the data representative of the file level information, and in response to determining to retrieve the media data, send a request to retrieve the media data.

Abstract: In general, the disclosure to techniques for regional random access within a picture of video data. For example, a video coding device receives a plurality of pictures in a coding order. Each respective picture of the plurality of pictures comprises a plurality of regions. For a first region in a first picture of the plurality of pictures, the video coding device determines that the first region is codable independent from each other region of the first picture and from a first region in a second picture preceding the first picture in the coding order and, responsive to making such a determination, determine that the first region in the first picture has random accessibility. The video coding device codes each video block in the first region independent from any video blocks outside of the first region.

Abstract: In one example, a device for retrieving media data includes a memory configured to store an ISO Base Media File Format (ISO BMFF) file including one or more samples including hypertext markup language (HTML) elements defining dynamic web content, and a processing unit implemented in circuitry and configured to: retrieve the ISO BMFF file, extract the HTML elements from the samples of the file, and processing the HTML elements to present the dynamic web content. The HTML elements may include JavaScript elements. The processing unit may also present the dynamic web content in a manner that is synchronized with corresponding media data.

Abstract: Techniques for encapsulating video streams containing multiple coded views in a media file are described herein. In one example, a method includes parsing a track of multiview video data, wherein the track includes at least one depth view. The method further includes parsing information to determine a spatial resolution associated with the depth view, wherein decoding the spatial resolution does not require parsing of a sequence parameter set of the depth view. Another example method includes composing a track of multiview video data, wherein the track includes the one or more views. The example method further includes composing information to indicate a spatial resolution associated with the depth view, wherein decoding the spatial resolution does not require parsing of a sequence parameter set of the depth view.

Abstract: An apparatus configured to decode video information includes a memory and a processor in communication with the memory. The memory is configured to a memory configured to store video information associated with bitstream. The apparatus further includes a processor in communication with the memory, the processor configured to determine that a reference layer is not included in the bitstream and to receive, from an external source, a decoded base layer picture. The processor is further configured to receive, from the external source, a first indication that the picture is an intra random access point (IRAP) picture. The processor is also configured to receive a second indication whether the picture is one of an instantaneous decoder refresh (IDR) picture, a clean random access (CRA) picture, or a broken link access (BLA) picture; and to decode the video information based at least in part on the first and second indications.

Abstract: Techniques are described for sending output indications in codec-hybrid multi-layer video coding, in which a base layer of video data is provided by an external system and conforms to a different video codec standard than one or more enhancement layers of the video data. An enhancement layer video decoder receives an enhancement layer bitstream that includes at least one enhancement layer to be decoded, an indication that the base layer is provided externally, and an indication of which layers are target output layers to be output for display. The external system does not receive a target output layer indication in a base layer bitstream. The disclosed techniques enable the enhancement layer video decoder, when the base layer is provided by the external system, to send an output indication to the external system indicating whether the base layer or specific base layer decoded pictures need to be output for display.

Abstract: A method of coding video data includes upsampling at least a portion of a reference layer picture to an upsampled picture having an upsampled picture size. The upsampled picture size has a horizontal upsampled picture size and a vertical upsampled picture size. At least one of the horizontal or vertical upsampled picture sizes may be different than a horizontal picture size or vertical picture size, respectively, of an enhancement layer picture. In addition, position information associated with the upsampled picture may be signaled. An inter-layer reference picture may be generated based on the upsampled picture and the position information.
