摘要： A method for low-contamination generation of energy comprising: (a) forming a gas mixture by mixing a treated gaseous effluent stream and air; (b) introducing the gas mixture and fuel at a given gas to fuel ratio into at least one diesel engine (3); (c) burning the fuel in the diesel engine to generate energy and a flue gas stream comprising particulate matter (PM), and nitrogen oxides (NOx); (d) treating at least a portion of the flue gas stream with an aqueous stream in a cyclone unit (27) comprising a housing defined by a cylindrical peripheral wall (2) and provided with at least one inlet opening (10) for receiving flue gas and at least one inlet opening for receiving fluids thereinto and with at least one swirling means, whereby a treated gaseous effluent stream and an aqueous effluent stream are formed; (e) emitting a portion of the treated gaseous effluent stream to form an emitted portion; (f) using a portion of the treated gaseous effluent stream to form the gas mixture, and (g) repeating steps (a) through (f) multiple times.

摘要： This invention is directed to methods for recovery of C3-C6 alcohols from dilute aqueous solutions, such as fermentation broths. Such methods provide improved volumetric productivity for the fermentation and allows recovery of the alcohol. Such methods also allow for reduced energy use in the production and drying of spent fermentation broth due to increased effective concentration of the alcohol product by the simultaneous fermentation and recovery process which increases the quantity of alcohol produced and recovered per quantity of fermentation broth dried. Thus, the invention allows for production and recovery of C3-C6 alcohols at low capital and reduced operating costs.

摘要： A process for the production of lactic acid and for the separation and/or recovery of lactic acid from a lactate feed solution. A lactate feed solution preferably obtained from a fermentation broth is combined with and extracted by a water immiscible trialkyl amine in the presence of carbon dioxide. Lactic acid is recovered from the resulting organic phase. Recovered carbonate or bicarbonate from the aqueous phase is preferably recycled to the fermentor and regenerated extractant is preferably recycled for use in the extraction.

摘要： A process is described for producing organic acids such as lactic acid. The process includes the steps of producing lactic acid by fermentation, resulting in an aqueous fermentation broth containing lactic acid, and adding a calcium base, such as calcium carbonate, to the fermentation broth, thereby producing calcium lactate in the broth. Biomass is removed from the broth, thereby leaving an aqueous solution or dispersion of calcium lactate. The calcium lactate is reacted with a source of ammonium ions, such as ammonium carbonate, or a mixture of ammonia and carbon dioxide, thereby producing an ammonium lactate. Contaminating cations can be removed by ion exchange. The free lactic acid or a derivative thereof can be separated from the ammonium ions, preferably by salt-splitting electrodialysis.
