Improved phosgene utilization and the substantial elimination of emulsion formation in the interfacial polymerization reactor and the processing units downstream thereof results.

    摘要: A composition comprising: a first polymer comprising a poly(etherimide-siloxane) copolymer comprising (a) a repeating polyetherimide unit, and (b) a poly(siloxane) block unit, a second polymer different from the first polymer and comprising bromine; and optionally, a third polymer comprising a polycarbonate different from the first polymer and second polymer; wherein polysiloxane block units are present in the composition in an amount of at least 0.3 wt %, and bromine is present in the composition in an amount of at least 7.8 wt %, each based on the sum of the wt % of the first, second, and third polymers; and further wherein an article molded from the composition has an OSU integrated 2 minute heat release test value of less than 65 kW-min/m2 and a peak heat release rate of less than 65 kW/m2, and an E662 smoke test Dmax value of less than 200.

    摘要: A copolymer composition comprises a polysiloxane block of Formula XIX or XXII, having 4 to 50 siloxane units, and a polyarylate-polycarbonate block consisting essentially of 50 to 99 mol % arylate polyester units and 1 to 50 mol % aromatic carbonate units, wherein 1 to 30 mole percent of the aromatic carbonate units are resorcinol carbonates, and 0 to 35 mol % of the aromatic carbonate units are bisphenol carbonates; wherein the sum of mole percentages of arylate polyester units, and aromatic carbonate units is 100 mol %; the polysiloxane blocks connect to an arylate ester unit, and/or an aromatic carbonate unit; the siloxane units of the polysiloxane block are present at 0.2 to 10 wt % based on weight of the copolymer composition; and a molded article of 3.2±0.12 millimeters thickness and consisting of the copolymer composition has a percent transmittance greater than or equal to 70%, according to ASTM D1003-00.

    摘要: A reaction product comprises a polyester-polycarbonate comprising a polyester unit and a polycarbonate unit, a polycarbonate polymer, and a transesterification catalyst, wherein the polyester-polycarbonate comprises greater than or equal to 75 mole % aromatic ester units, and less than 25 mole % carbonate units. The reaction product has a haze of less than 1.7%, specifically less than 1.0% as measured at a thickness of 3.2 mm according to ASTM D1003-00. A thermoplastic composition comprising the reaction product and articles formed from therefrom are disclosed. A method of forming the reaction product is also disclosed.
