The data processing control unit is coupled to the flash memory unit. The data processing control unit controls the flash memory unit and encrypts, decrypts and stores smart card security data. The power control unit selects the first power input or the second power input and provides the selected one to the data processing control unit according to at least one control signal. A repair circuitry consisting of at least one electrical fuse forming part of a conduction path between a positive voltage supply (Vq) pad and a complimentary lower voltage supply source (Vss). The repair circuitry includes at least one switching device and at least one control circuitry. The at least one switching device has a control terminal and is coupled between the Vq pad and the at least one electrical fuse. The at least one control circuitry is coupled to the control terminal and the Vq pad respectively. Upon an application of a positive high voltage to the Vq pad, the control circuitry delays the turned-on state of the switching device for a predetermined period of time, thereby blocking stray currents occurred during ESD events. Consequently, the repair circuitry can prevent the at least one electrical fuse from being mistakenly programmed.

A method in which, during an optimal power calibration (OPC) process, an optical disk drive performs a plurality of write tests to an optical disk at a plurality of test powers and measures a corresponding plurality of modulation signal strength values of the optical disk for the plurality of write tests to generate a modulation signal strength versus power curve. The method then determines possible gamma lines corresponding to considered powers, and selects a considered power as a target power of the optical disk drive when a possible gamma line is substantially tangential to the modulation signal strength versus power curve at the considered power. According to the method, powers within a domain of the plurality of test powers are considered until a considered power is selected as the target power for the optical disk.

A Viterbi decoder of a partial response maximum likelihood channel. In an optical disc drive, a system of partial response maximum likelihood has an analog/digital converter. This analog/digital converter receives an analog signal and outputs a digital signal to a Viterbi decoder. The Viterbi decoder has an adaptive level Viterbi decoder, a signal level mapping algorithm, a received signal delay chain, a hard decoder, and a multiplexer. The adaptive level Viterbi decoder and the hard decoder receive a digital signal output from the analog/digital converter to decode simultaneously. Whether the output of the multiplexer is the decision bit of the adaptive level Viterbi decoder or the hard decoder is determined by the mode selection algorithm.
