Abstract:
A composition of matter is disclosed wherein the composition comprises a hydrazide compound of the formula: wherein: R1 is selected from the group consisting of alkyl, alkyl ether, and phenyl;R2, R3, R4, R5, and R6 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, alkyl ether, and aryl; andn is an integer of from 0 to 10;and wherein:when R1 is phenyl, it is of the structure: wherein R7, R8, and R9 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, alkyl ether, and aryl, or R7 can be combined with R8 to form a ring of 5 or 6 carbon atoms. The hydrazides are useful as stabilizers for lubricants, greases, and polymeric systems, particularly lubricating oils, as are maleated polymers that have been functionalized with them.
Abstract:
Diphosphites having the structural formula: ##STR1## wherein: R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 may be the same or different and are C.sub.4 to C.sub.12 tertiary alkyl or C.sub.9 to C.sub.14 tertiary aralkyl;R.sup.3 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 to C.sub.18 alkyl or C.sub.7 to C.sub.18 aralkyl. These hydrolytically stable solid diphosphites are useful as antioxidants in organic polymers such as polypropylene.
Abstract:
Disclosed are novel tris(N-alkyl-p-phenylenediamino)-1,3,5-triazine compounds useful as antiozonants for unsaturated high polymers. The compounds may be prepared by reacting N-alkylphenylenediamine with a cyanuric halide.
Abstract:
Polymeric halogenated organophosphorus diols are obtained by reacting chlorine or bromine with spirocyclic phosphites and thereafter reacting the halogenated product with a diol, in the presence of an acid acceptor. These novel viscous polymers react with polyisocyantes to produce polyurethanes. Polyurethanes so made are characterized by improved flame retardant properties compared with conventional polyurethanes. Such polyurethanes are preferably in the form of foams, especially flexible foams.
Abstract:
A process for preparing an N-mono-substituted-p-phenylenediamine by reacting the corresponding p-nitroso-N-mono-substituted aniline compound with a primary or secondary alcohol in the presence of a base.
Abstract:
A process for preparing p-nitrosodiphenylamine hydrochloride is provided from N-nitrosodiphenylamine and hydrogen chloride. The product is prepared in the absence of an aromatic solvent and using a solvent consisting essentially of aliphatic C.sub.5 -C.sub.10 alcohol.
