摘要： A wireless relay module for networked communications between a series of medical devices and a remote monitoring device. The relay module communicates with the remote monitoring device over one or more internet-accessible wireless communication networks, and includes a receiver, transmitter for communicating over wireless relay networks, other transmitters for the one or more internet-accessible wireless communications networks; and a controller. The controller determines a status of the one or more internet-accessible wireless communications networks. When the status indicates that at least one of the interne-accessible wireless communications network is available, the appropriate transmitter is selected for the transmitting medical device data over the available internet-accessible wireless communications networks. When internet-accessible wireless communications networks are not accessible, the appropriate wireless relay network transmitter is selected for transmitting the data to another wireless relay module.

摘要： A remote monitoring system for monitoring a plurality of medical devices at a patient care or home care facility. The system includes a device integration server in communication with wireless relay modules for receiving data packets from the medical devices including an identifier and data for each medical device. The system also includes a data management system and an outbound web server. The data management system is configured to log data for the medical devices. The web server is configured to provide webpages including the data of the medical devices for display on a remote monitoring computer, subject to authentication of an associated data request from the monitoring computer. The Web server is configurable to look up patient information from a secure source when user has appropriate permissions. In addition, the device integration server is configured to process alert messages received from the wireless relay modules and, in response, to transmit text message information to the wireless relay modules to be relayed to one or more text messaging recipients.

摘要： An obturator for use with a needle assembly to remove a sample of biological material collected in a hollow needle of the needle assembly includes a grip for holding and manipulating the obturator. A shaft extending from the grip is sized and shaped for reception in a central axial passageway of the needle assembly for pushing the sample out of the central axial passageway. A shield is slidably supported on the shaft for engaging and shielding a sharp end of the hollow needle when the obturator shaft is being inserted into the needle to remove the sample.

The wireless relay module including a receiver, a first transmitter coupled to the wireless relay network, a second transmitter coupled to the internet-accessible wireless communication network, a controller and a display. The controller identifying if received medical device data from the medical device includes an alarm condition and causing the display to display an alert accordingly. The wireless relay module may additionally include a speaker alone or in combination with a microphone for providing an audible alert of the alarm condition and verbal communication between a local healthcare provider and a clinician at the remote monitoring device.

摘要： A portable system for subatmospheric pressure therapy in connection with healing a surgical wound includes a wound dressing dimensioned for positioning relative to a wound bed and a collection canister in fluid communication with the wound dressing. The canister includes a first vacuum chamber for drawing a vacuum and a second fluid chamber for collecting fluids removed from the wound dressing under the vacuum. The canister further includes a hydrophobic membrane separating the first and second chambers. The hydrophobic membrane is dimensioned to span a major portion of the cross-sectional area of the canister. The hydrophobic membrane may be dimensioned to substantially span an internal dimension of the collection canister. The hydrophobic membrane may include one or more outwardly extending lobes. The hydrophobic membrane may be releasably mountable to the canister, and, may be supported within a divider separating the first vacuum chamber and the second fluid chamber.

摘要： A patient monitoring system for remote monitoring of medical devices. The system includes a medical device, a patient identification device and a wireless relay module. The relay module receives patient identification information from the patient identification device and medical device identification from the medical device via a wireless relay network, and transmits this information to the remote monitoring device via an internet-accessible wireless communications network. The remote monitoring device returns an acknowledgement status to the relay module, which the relay module transmits to the medical device. Upon receipt of an acknowledgment status indicating that the patient's use of the medical device is authorized, the medical device transmits medical device data to the relay module via the wireless relay network, and the relay module relays the medical device data to the remote monitoring device via the internet-accessible wireless communications network.

摘要： A pump set for use with a pump to deliver a supply of liquid to a patient. The feeding set has a conduit for the nutrient liquid and a safety interlock device associated with the conduit. The pumping apparatus has a pumping device and a control system for controlling operation of the pump. An electromagnetic radiation source is operatively connected to the control system of the pump for emitting an electromagnetic radiation signal in a direction for striking the safety interlock device of the feeding set. The safety interlock device is adapted to affect the direction of the electromagnetic radiation. An electromagnetic radiation detector is operatively connected to the control system for receiving the electromagnetic radiation signal when the direction is affected by the safety interlock device, and providing an indication to the control system that the feeding set conduit is properly positioned in the feeding pump.
