Abstract:
An oriented film structure of improved water vapor transmission rate is prepared from an extruded and stretched mixture of (1) high crystallinity polypropylene (HCPP) having intermolecular stereoregularity greater than 93% and (2) a moisture barrier improving amount of polyterpene resin.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a biaxially oriented multi-layer film which comprises: (a) a core layer comprising a syndiotactic propylene homopolymer; and (b) at least one additional layer adjacent to the core layer comprising a polymer which is an ethylene or a propylene homopolymer, ethylene copolymer or terpolymer containing comonomers of propylene and/or butene-1. Optionally, there can be a skin layer applied to the exposed surface of the outer layer. The skin layer and/or the at least one additional layer is a polyolefin selected from the group consisting of isotactic polypropylene, polyethylene, ethylene-propylene random copolymer, ethylene-propylene block copolymer or ethylene-propylene-butene-1 terpolymer.
Abstract:
An oriented multi-layer film comprises:(a) at least one layer comprising an olefin polymer, for example, isotactic polypropylene; and(b) a barrier layer adjacent the at least one layer of (a), comprising a syndiotactic polypropylene which preferably possesses an isotacticity of less than 25%, more preferably less than 15%, in particular less than 6%, and moisture and oxygen permeability reducing amounts of wax.
Abstract:
An oriented multilayer film comprises: (a) a base layer containing a thermoplastic polymer; (b) at least one tie layer; and (c) at least one outer layer containing a metallocene catalyzed polyethylene chosen for its performance as an adhesion layer and having improved processability. The multilayer films are useful for various end uses including printing, metallization, adhesive lamination, and cold sealing.
Abstract:
A product capable of absorbing unwanted odors and unpleasant flavors, is sealed from said odors and flavors by being sealingly overwrapped with a film comprising an oriented film of a blend of polypropylene and a polymerized polyterpene selected from the group consisting of polymerized d-limonene, polymerized beta-pinene, polymerized synthetic approximation of d-limonene and beta-pinene and mixtures thereof.
Abstract:
A sealable film comprises: (a) an inner layer comprising an olefin polymer; (b) a sealing layer; and (c) a separable layer positioned between the inner layer and the sealing layer, the separable layer comprising (1) ethylene-propylene block copolymer or (2) a blend of polyethylene and another olefin which is incompatible with the polyethylene, specifically either (i) polypropylene homopolymer or (ii) ethylene-propylene block copolymer. Methods of making the sealable film are described.
Abstract:
A multi-layer film includes a base layer comprising a polyolefin and at least one additional layer comprising a metallocene-catalyzed syndiotactic polypropylene, wherein the base layer and the at least one additional layer comprising a metallocene-catalyzed syndiotactic polypropylene are not suitable for use as a heat sealable film. The multi-layer films of the present invention have improved metallizable surfaces and the metallized films exhibit excellent gas (e.g., oxygen and water vapor) barrier properties, as well as good pick off, optical properties (optical density, haze, and gloss), and coefficient of friction (COF).
Abstract:

Abstract:
A uniaxially heat-shrinkable, biaxially oriented, multilayer film having a polypropylene-containing core layer comprising at least 70 wt. % of said multilayer film and optionally, at least one polyolefin-containing skin layer adjacent said core layer, is prepared by biaxially orienting a coextrudate and therefore orienting said coextrudate by stretching 10 to 40 % in the machine direction. The core layer contains isotactic polypropylene and a sufficient amount of syndiotactic polypropylene to inhibit uniaxial heat shrinkage at temperature below about 50.degree. C. The skin layer can be selected from the group consisting of polypropylene, ethylene-propylene copolymer, polyethylene, and ethylene-propylene-butylene terpolymer.
