    摘要: A mechanism for varying the position of a band saw blade in a tilting frame band saw. The mechanism includes an actuator, a tilt arm and a tilting frame. The actuator is pivotably connected to a support, and the tilt arm is pivotably connected to both the tilting frame and the actuator. The actuator is connected to the tilt arm such that the angular movement of the frame, which results from extension and retraction of the actuator, bears a substantially linear relationship to the stroke of the actuator. The mechanism of the present invention enables the frame to be made with an exceptionally wide sweep, and may be controlled by a proportional hydraulic valve controlled on the basis of location data provided by an encoder mounted within the tilting frame.

    摘要: The present invention provides for a vertical band saw frame assembly having a support column having a top and a bottom, the support column having a lower band wheel attached thereto. The band saw frame further provides for a tilt plate having a plurality of apertures attached to the top of the support column and a mounting plate. The tilt plate provides a mounting platform for the upper band wheel, blade tensioning assembly, blade guide, and blade break sensor. In a preferred embodiment, the tilt plate is attachable to the mounting plate in two positions, a first position in vertical alignment with the lower band wheel and a second position in which the upper band wheel further from the support column and at an angle to the first position to create a canted cutting blade angle.

    摘要: A rotating blade guide assembly for use with a sawing machine includes a blade guide carrier and means for rotating the blade guide carrier from a first position to a second position. The first position would be that blade orientation when the blade is initially placed about a pair of band wheels. The second position would be the blade orientation when the blade is rotated about 90° to a cutting position. In this way, the orientation of the sawing machine blade is changed when the blade guide carrier is rotated from the first position to the second position. The rotating blade guide assembly further provides means for securing the blade guide carrier in the second position so as to prevent rotation of the blade guide carrier during use of the sawing machine.

    摘要: A rotating blade guide assembly includes a blade guide carrier and means for rotating the carrier from a first position to a second position. The support structure for the assembly provides a means of supporting the assembly in both positions while allowing an opening for the band to be inserted without twisting in the first position. The first position would be that blade orientation when the blade is placed about a pair of band wheels. The second position would be the blade orientation when the blade is rotated 90° to a cutting position. In this way, the orientation of the blade is changed when the blade guide carrier is rotated from the first position to the second position. The assembly further provides means for securing the blade guide carrier in the second position to provide accurate alignment and prevent rotation of the carrier during use.

    摘要: A roller table with a vise carriage and movable roller supports for moving, positioning, and supporting material. In the preferred embodiment, a hydraulic cylinder and piston rod are used in conjunction with a rack and pinion system such that there is a doubling effect on the piston rod stroke for effectuating differential positioning of two movable roller supports and the vise carriage. One movable roller support is disposed at approximately the midpoint between the vise carriage and a fixed vise. For a given displacement of the vise carriage, the movable roller support travels half as far so as to remain essentially at the midpoint of the span. The second movable roller support is disposed on the other side of the vise carriage, more or less at the midpoint between the vise carriage and a fixed roller support. The second movable roller support is integral with the first movable roller support and, thus, also travels half as far as the vise carriage for a given displacement so as to remain essentially at the midpoint between the vise carriage and the fixed roller.

    摘要: A machine frame mounts a pair of upper and lower girder-like box beams (10,11) of heavy construction. A plurality of upstream upper scoring assemblies (28) and a plurality of downstream upper slitting assemblies (30) are mounted on the upper box beam. The lower box beam (11) also supports a plurality of upstream lower scoring assemblies (29) and a plurality of downstream lower slitting assemblies (31). The assemblies include rotatably driven slitting or scoring blades (32, 33). The box beams extend transversely of a traveling web (2). The assemblies include a motor (50) connected to be driven along its beam, and an encoder (52), with all of the motors and encoders being electrically connected to a programmable computer (54). The computer may be pre-programmed with the position and spacing of all of the assemblies, so that upon the provision of a single input signal all of the motors simultaneously drive all of the assemblies to their desired position. A bearing block (59) is engageable by an elongated cam rod (62, 63) extending along the beam. Rotation of the rod causes simultaneous locking of all assemblies in an array in position along the beam. Adjusting the caliper between opposing scoring blades is accomplished by mounting the upper box beam (10) so that it is pivotable by an actuator (80) upwardly about the axis (89) of the rotatably driven shaft (35) for the upper slitting assembly blades. The temperature of the box beams (10, 11) is internally stabilized by heating.
