    Abstract: In a system for administering a volatile inhalation anesthetic agent to a patient at a flow rate that is in excess of the patient''s uptake rate and wherein a portion of the excess anesthetic agent is exhausted from the system, a method and apparatus for recovering the exhausted anesthetic agent. Recovery is effected by collecting the exhausted gas and removing the water vapor either by condensation or with a hygroscopic material. The anesthetic agent is then extracted from the dried gas by a cryogenic process in which the vapors in the anesthetic agent are condensed to a liquid phase or by an absorbent material which is processed later to remove the agent. When employing the condensing process, the anesthetic condensate is collected and may be readmitted directly into the anesthetic system.

    Abstract: Apparatus for humidifying a gas and delivering it to be breathed, comprising a gas chamber having an inlet for communication with a source of the gas, and an outlet, a water chamber coextensive over a zone with a portion of the gas chamber, one of the chambers having a wall permeable to water vapor at the zone, and means for bringing water into intimate contact with one side of the wall at the zone at a vapor pressure sufficient to cause passage of water vapor through the wall and into the gas chamber to humidify gas therein, the means comprising water return and supply tubes effectively sealed to the water chamber and arranged for respective connection to a source of vacuum and a water reservoir exposed to atmospheric pressure.

    Abstract: A kite is formed from highly flexible sheet of material and has a pair of symmetrical wing sections which extend transversely from a central longitudinal keel. A bridle is connected to the kite at the lateral tips of each wing section and to the keel. The lines of the bridle are arranged so that, in flight, the wing sections will billow out in an arcuate pattern in which the outermost ends of each of the wing sections are disposed in a generally vertical attitude. Outwardly flared tabs are provided at the leading edge of the outermost ends of the wings to maintain the billowed configuration of the kite and to preclude inward buckling of the outer generally vertical regions of the wings.
