Abstract: Technology for a user equipment (UE) is disclosed. The UE can receive a group filter element that includes group information for one or more files or sessions corresponding to targeted media content, which can be associated with a group identification (groupID) element. The UE can receive MPD information for streaming media content. The UE can identify a user profile associated with a user of the UE. The user profile can include groupID elements associated with the user. The UE can map targeted media content in a file or session having a groupID element that is a groupID element included in the user profile. The UE can insert media presentation description (MPD) information for the mapped targeted media content having the groupID element that is included in the user profile into the MPD information for the streaming media content to generate a unified MPD.

Abstract: A technology that is operable to authenticate content access for dynamic adaptive streaming over hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) (DASH) is disclosed. In one embodiment, a client device is configured with circuitry to communicate, to a content server, a request for a media presentation description (MPD). An MPD message is received from the content server indicating one or more content authorization elements to access content at the content server. A request for authorization of the client device to access content at the content server is communicated to an authorization server, when the client device is configured to perform the content authorization elements in the MPD message. An authorization message is received from the authorization server. A content request message requesting one or more DASH segments is communicated to the content server.

Abstract: A quality-aware rate adaptation algorithm is described to optimize the quality of experience (QoE) for a DASH client. Requesting media at a bitrate higher than the available network bandwidth can lead to re-buffering events that disrupt user experience, while requesting media at lower bitrates may lead to sub-optimum streaming quality. The quality-aware algorithm tries to optimize the QoE of a DASH client by maintaining a better trade-off between buffer levels and quality fluctuations.

Abstract: A network device (e.g., an evolved Node B (eNB), server, or other network entity) or a client device (e.g., a user equipment (UE)) can operate over various interfaces according to a dynamic adaptive streaming over hypertext transfer protocol (DASH) assisting network element (DANE). A media path interface can deliver streaming media content to the client device from the media origin server based on a set of parameters provided via a DANE server interface. A client-to-DANE interface can receive a set of metric and status messages from the client device concurrent with a delivery of the streaming media content. A content adaptation component can generate a modification of a media presentation or related parameters based on the set of metric and status messages.

Abstract: Apparatuses of user equipment (UEs) for end-to-end coordination of voice over cellular data network communications. An apparatus of a UE includes one or more data storage devices and one or more processors. The one or more data storage devices are configured to store delay budget information pertaining to end-to-end delivery of a real-time transport protocol (RTP) stream sent from a remote UE to the UE. The one or more processors are configured to generate an application layer message including the delay budget information, the application layer message to be transmitted to the remote UE to enable the remote UE to request, from a cellular base station servicing the remote UE, additional air interface delay based on the delay budget information.

Abstract: In a video conferencing application, a user viewing a scene can performing zooming by selecting an area in the scene, then dynamically switching a video feed of the scene to the selected area of the scene. The hardware and software of the video conferencing application can limit the video transmitted to the user to include only the selected area of the scene. Transmitting only the selected area of the scene, and excluding the non-selected area of the scene from transmission, can more efficiently use the available bandwidth of the video conferencing application.

Abstract: Technology for communicating Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG)-2 streaming video quality information is disclosed. A network element can generate quality access units that are associated with one or more media access units in a media content stream representation. The quality access units can indicate quality metadata for the media access units in the media content stream representation. The network element can encapsulate the quality access units in an MPEG-2 transport stream (TS). The network element can generate a quality extension descriptor that describes the quality metadata indicated in the quality access units. The network element can communicate, to a user equipment (UE), the quality extension descriptor according to a defined periodicity. The network element can communicate, to the UE, the quality access units in the MPEG TS with the media access units, wherein the quality access units are interpreted at the UE based on the quality extension descriptor.
