Abstract: An elastomeric composition is disclosed. The elastomeric composition includes, per 100 parts by weight of rubber (phr): about 5 to about 30 phr of polybutadiene having a cis-1,4 linkage content of at least 95%; about 60 to 100 phr of a styrene/butadiene copolymer; an antioxidant; a curative agent; about 1 to about 20 phr carbon black; about 50 to 80 phr silica, a silane coupling agent and about 5 to about 30 phr of a polymer is selected from the group consisting of ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer, butyl rubber, poly(isobutylene-co-para-methylstyrene) and poly(isobutylene-co-para-methylstyrene-co-isoprene) terpolymer. The polymer based on ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer, butyl rubber, poly(isobutylene-co-para-methylstyrene) and poly(isobutylene-co-para-methylstyrene-co-isoprene) terpolymer may be functionalized.

Abstract: An elastomeric composition is disclosed. Abstract: In an embodiment, a thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) composition includes a rubber, a thermoplastic polyolefin, and a polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane, wherein: a concentration of the rubber is from 10 wt % to 80 wt % based on a combined weight of the rubber and the thermoplastic polyolefin; a concentration of the thermoplastic polyolefin is from 20 wt % to 90 wt % based on the combined weight of the rubber and the thermoplastic polyolefin; and a concentration of the polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane is from 0.1 wt % to 20 wt % based on the total weight of the TPV composition. In another embodiment, a process for preparing a dynamically vulcanized thermoplastic vulcanizate composition includes melt processing under shear conditions at least one thermoplastic resin, at least one rubber, at least one curing agent, and at least one polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane; and forming a dynamically vulcanized thermoplastic vulcanizate composition. In another embodiment, a pipe is provided.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to crosslinked TPE or TPV compositions, flexible pipes containing crosslinked TPE or TPV compositions, and methods for forming crosslinked elastomer polymer compositions and flexible pipes. In an embodiment, a flexible pipe includes a plurality of layers, where at least one layer includes a composition including: at least one polar elastomer, and a polymer having a crystallinity of about 20% or greater. In an embodiment, a pipe includes an inner sheath, an outer sheath, a first armor layer, and a second armor layer, where at least one of the inner sheath and the outer sheath comprises a crosslinked TPE or TPV composition that is the reaction product of an elastomer having a polarity of about 90° or less, a polymer having a crystallinity of about 20% or greater, and a crosslinking agent.

Abstract: Provided herein are thioacetate isobutylene-based polymer compositions comprising thioalkylated functionalized polymer, and a sulfur donor and/or accelerator cure system. The thioalkylated functionalized polymer is produced via nucleophilic substitution reaction in solution. The present thioacetate functionalized isobutylene-based polymer compositions together with various accelerators and sulfur donors can form thermosets useful for pharmaceutical and tire applications without the use of zinc or a zinc oxide activator.

Abstract: Elastomeric compositions comprising propylene-ethylene-diene terpolymer based polyolefin additives useful in tire tread compositions. The elastomeric compositions comprise 100 phr (parts by weight per hundred parts of total elastomer) diene elastomers; about 0 to about 80 phr of processing oil; 0 to about 80 phr of a hydrocarbon resin; about 60 to about 140 phr of filler; a curative agent; and about 5 to about 30 phr of a silane functionalized propylene-ethylene-diene terpolymer. The silane functionalized propylene-ethylene-diene terpolymer comprises from about 2 wt. % to about 40 wt. % of ethylene and/or C4-C20 α-olefins derived units, from 0.5 to 10 wt % of diene derived units, and a silane coupling agent. The present elastomeric compositions are useful as tire tread compositions for improved tire performance.
