摘要: The disclosed technology includes a method of treating atrial fibrillation in a predetermined group of patients meeting predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria, including delivering a catheter into a pulmonary vein of each patient of the predetermined group of patients, ablating one or more locations of targeted tissues of the pulmonary vein using the catheter, determining an ablation index as a function of the measured contact force and number of pulsed electric field applications for each location of the one or more locations from the pulsed electric field ablation, and achieving a predetermined effectiveness rate of pulmonary vein isolation in the group of patients within an effectiveness evaluation period. The catheter can include a tip electrode configured to emit either a pulsed electric field or a radiofrequency signal to cardiac tissue and measure a contact force experienced by the tip electrode against cardiac tissue during pulsed electric field ablation.

摘要: An electrical apparatus includes a spiral electrode and an interface circuit. The spiral electrode is disposed on a distal end of a probe for insertion into a body of a patient. The interface circuit is configured to (a) transfer a radiofrequency (RF) ablation signal to the electrode for ablating tissue in the body, (b) output a voltage that develops across the electrode in response to an external magnetic field, for measuring a position of the distal end in the body, and (c) transfer electrical current through the electrode for measuring a resistivity that is indicative of tissue temperature in a vicinity of the electrode.

摘要: A medical system is configured to receive electrical signals responsive to electrical activity in myocardial tissue at respective locations on from each electrode of a first portion of a plurality of electrodes at a distal end of a catheter, determine a geometric center of the first portion of the plurality of electrodes, determine a focus of an arrhythmia, and output an indication of a spatial relationship between the geometric center and the focus. The first portion of the plurality of electrodes includes at least three electrodes, and the plurality of electrodes includes a second portion of electrodes distinct from the first portion and not in contact with myocardial tissue. The focus is determined based at least in part on the electrical signals from the electrodes of the first portion of the plurality of electrodes. An associated method is also described.

摘要: A catheter configured to be used in a medical procedure includes a shaft and electrically conductive splines. The splines can include an insulated portion and a non-insulated portion configured to electrically ablate tissue. The catheter can include one or more electrodes coupled to insulated portion(s) of the splines and configured to sense electrical signals in the tissue. The splines can be coupled to an apex, forming an expandable distal-end assembly. The catheter can include a bump stop coupled to the apex and configured to maintain a minimal distance between the apex and the distal tip of the shaft. An ablation system can include the catheter, a generator, and a processor configured to control ablation energy from the generator to the splines such that ablation energy is applied to a first spline without applying ablation energy to a second spline.

摘要: A medical probe, including a flexible insertion tube having a distal end for insertion into a body cavity. An array of spatially separated coils is positioned within the distal end. A processor is configured to process respective signals generated by the coils in response to magnetic resonance of tissue in the body cavity, and to process the signals while applying a phase delay responsive to a separation between the coils so as to image the tissue.

摘要: The disclosed technology includes a system for applying pulsed field ablation to treat atrial fibrillation. The system includes a catheter and a processor. The catheter can include a tip electrode controlled to emit either a pulsed electric field or a radiofrequency signal to biological tissue and ablate one or more locations of biological tissue of the pulmonary vein. The processor is configured to measure a contact force experienced by the tip electrode against biological tissue during pulsed electric field ablation and determine a pulsed field ablation index as a function of the measured contact force and number of pulsed electric field applications for each location of the one or more locations so that it can be determined whether a lesion is sufficiently durable.
