Abstract: A method that includes receiving audio content; receiving a volume level at which the audio content is to be played back through a speaker of the headset that is worn by a user; determining a noise level of environmental noise at the headset; determining a noise exposure level by the user based on the volume level, a content level of the audio content, and the noise level; determining whether a content level of the audio content is less than a threshold that is based on the noise exposure level; and responsive to determining that the content level is less than the threshold, adjusting the content level by applying a gain to the audio content such that the gain-adjusted content level of the audio content is at least equal to the noise exposure level.

Abstract: Microphone signals of a primary headphone are processed and either a first transparency mode of operation is activated or a second transparency mode of operation. In another aspect, a processor enters different configurations in response to estimated ambient acoustic noise being lower or higher than a threshold, wherein in a first configuration a transparency audio signal is adapted via target voice and wearer voice processing (TVWVP) of a microphone signal to boost detected speech frequencies in the transparency audio signal, and in a second configuration the TVWVP is controlled to, as the estimated ambient acoustic noise increases, reduce boosting of, or not boost at all, the detected speech frequencies in the transparency audio signal. Abstract: A method performed by a near-end headphone device, while the device is engaged in a voice communication session with a far-end device. The method receives a downlink audio signal from the far-end device and drives a speaker with the downlink audio signal. The method receives an accelerometer signal from an accelerometer of the near-end device and performs echo cancellation and residual echo suppression. The method generates a combined SNR-RES signal based on a SNR of the echo cancelled the accelerometer signal and the residual echo suppression signal. The method determines whether the combined SNR-RES signal is below a threshold. In response to being below the threshold, the method gates the echo cancelled accelerometer signal, generates an uplink audio signal by blending the gated signal with a microphone signal and transmits the uplink audio signal to the far-end device.
