摘要: A mobile device has a memory storing a name of a user of the mobile device, an audio output interface for outputting an audio signal to earphones worn by the user of the mobile device and a microphone configured to receive a sound signal external to the earphones. A processor is communicatively connected to the microphone to process the sound signal to recognize speech in response to the processor detecting that the audio output interface is outputting the audio signal to the earphones. The processor is configured to determine if the speech includes the name of the user stored in the memory of the mobile device. The processor is configured to generate and provide a volume control signal to the audio output interface to lower a volume of the earphones in response to determining that the speech includes the name of the user.

摘要: Many portable playback devices cannot decode and playback encoded audio content having wide bandwidth and wide dynamic range with consistent loudness and intelligibility unless the encoded audio content has been prepared specially for these devices. This problem can be overcome by including with the encoded content some metadata that specifies a suitable dynamic range compression profile by either absolute values or differential values relative to another known compression profile. A playback device may also adaptively apply gain and limiting to the playback audio. Implementations in encoders, in transcoders and in decoders are disclosed.

摘要: Volume limiting systems and methods are operable to limit volume output from media presentation devices. An exemplary embodiment detects a sound using a microphone, wherein the sound corresponds to an audio output of at least one controlled media presentation device, and wherein the microphone is remotely located from the at least one controlled media presentation device; compares a level of the detected sound with a predefined maximum volume limit; generates a volume output limit command in response to the detected sound exceeding the predefined maximum volume limit; and communicates the volume output limit command to the media presentation device. The media presentation device then reduces a volume level of its audio output. In some instances, volume may be limited during user specified periods.

A signal strength of the wireless signal is determined, and a location of the second device is determined based on the signal strength of the wireless signal. Historical volume level data for the first device is retrieved from memory. A target volume level for the first device is determined based on the location of the second device and the historical volume level data. A volume setting of the first device is automatically adjusted to the target volume level.

While outputting the audio via the speakers, the device senses its surrounding environment, and adjusts its operation, based on the sensed environment, to alert a listener wearing the device. The adjustment may comprise generation of one or more audio, visual, and/or vibration notifications to the listener using the device. A volume of the audio output via the speakers may be adjusted based on the sensed surrounding environment. The device may detect whether a first condition is present in the surrounding environment, decrease the volume when the first condition is detected in the surrounding environment, and increase the volume when the first condition is not detected in the surrounding environment.

摘要: The present disclosure provides systems and methods for progressively transitioning the playback volume based on a background noise level. The device may have a predetermined quantity of volume levels between a minimum volume and a maximum volume. The volume levels may be spaced by predetermined increments, such that there is a predefined difference between adjacent volume levels. A digital gain may be used to adjust the volume level and an analog gain may allow for the playback volume to be adjusted to an amount between adjacent volume levels. The playback volume may progressively transition within the predefined volume levels by an amount less than the predetermined difference between adjacent volume levels. This smaller amount may be the analog gain.

摘要: Example techniques relate to voice interaction in an environment with a media playback system that is playing back audio content. In an example implementation, while playing back first audio in a given environment at a given loudness: a playback device (a) detects that an event is anticipated in the given environment, the event involving playback of second audio and (b) determines a loudness of background noise in the given environment, the background noise comprising ambient noise in the given environment. The playback device ducks the first audio in proportion to a difference between the given loudness of the first audio and the determined loudness of the background noise and plays back the ducked first audio concurrently with the second audio.
