摘要: Clostridium sp. are an obligate anaerobic bacterium that produces butyric acid as its major end-product. Previously, we have developed an integrated process that couples fermentation of biomass sugars, with in situ product recovery and distillation. This process works best at pH's lower than 7.0. The process serves to extract carboxylic acids during fermentation which enables reduced base-loading and reduced end-product toxicity. 摘要: Disclosed herein are methods and compositions of matter that enable the biological conversion of gaseous waste streams (CO2, stranded natural gas, flue gas, biogas, landfill gas, etc.) to a platform chemical, 3-hydroxybutyrate, which can in turn be upgraded to fuels and polymers (e.g. polypropylene and polymers). The technology thus presents both a mechanism to valorize gaseous waste streams and establish sustainable production routes to chemicals and plastics via the overexpression of PHB depolymerase while knocking out the AACS pathway in this specific strain of methanotrophic bacteria.

摘要: Presented herein are oleaginous strains of yeast such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae that have been modified to allow for xylose utilization. Such strains are also modified to allow for higher lipid accumulation utilizing a broad range of sugar monomers such as those released during pretreatment and enzymatic saccharification of lignocellulosic biomass. Methods of producing lipids and ethanol using these yeast strains are also disclosed.
