    Abstract: Disclosed is a process for the catalytic copolymerization of acetylene and olefins which comprises heating a mixture of acetylene and olefin in the presence of a catalyst comprising an acidic catalyst carrier having deposited thereon a compound selected from the group consisting of zinc acetate, zinc oxide, cadmium oxide, cadmium acetate, nickel oxide, nickel acetate, cobalt oxide, and cobalt acetate. The novel products produced by the process of this invention are useful for the preparation of motor fuels and polymeric coating compositions.
