In order to provide for the drawing off of residual vapors of a low boiling liquid from a pressure system into a storage vessel, the pressure between the system and the storage vessel is first equalized, whereafter the pressure in the storage vessel is reduced and the pressure in the pressure system increased, thereby enabling passage of the low boiling liquid, and its associated vapors in the liquid state, into the storage vessel. This process can be repeated in order to draw off all liquid with its vapors from the pressure system.

A method for treating beverages containing turbidity procursors and/or enzymes is described. The technique involves contacting the beverages with a diol or dicarboxylic acid polycondensate at a temperature ranging from 28.4.degree. to 176.degree. F., thereby resulting in separation of deleterious substance. The colloidal and taste qualities of the resultant beverages is thereby enhanced.

The invention relates to a process of manufacturing native microbial protein with a low content of nucleic acids, the product being useful as food or feed. The products obtained by the process of the invention may be widely used in the food industry, especially in the meat, milk, and bread industries. These products may replace meat or milk and can also be used in the nutrition of animals. The products may also be used as substitutes for casein, in the fortification of flour, or to improve the quality and value of bread and the like.
