摘要: A continuous motion laser shock peening apparatus and method for laser shock peening a workpiece. A laser controller modulates and fires a laser beam from a laser unit. A motion controller is controllably connected to a manipulator and to the laser controller to fire the laser beam based on axis position feedback from a speed control of the motion controller. The laser controller has a standby mode for flashing a laser flash lamp at a flash rate without triggering the laser beam and a firing mode that triggers and fires the laser beam in laser beam pulses. The laser controller includes a synchronizing means for synchronizing a triggering signal provided to the laser interface controller by the computerized motion controller to fire the laser beam pulses and the flash rate substantially at a time when the laser beam pulses are to be generated.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for reducing the average-to-minimum power ratio (AMPR) of communications signals in communications transmitters. An AMPR-reducing method includes detecting a sample of a baseband signal having a magnitude less than a predetermined low-magnitude threshold. The magnitude and/or angle of the baseband signal is modified in the temporal vicinity of the detected low-magnitude sample, to form a modified baseband signal having a reduced AMPR. The baseband signal is modified by scaling an insertion pulse by a complex pulse insertion vector and combining the resulting scaled complex insertion pulse with the baseband signal in the temporal vicinity of the detected low-magnitude sample. The pulse insertion angle may be set to any angle within a pulse insertion vector range determined by a vector defining the detected low-magnitude sample and a vector that is orthogonal to the trajectory of the baseband signal.

摘要: A portable machine is used to abrade the surface of a factory finished wooden floor so the abraded surface may be recoated with a fresh coat of wooden floor finish. Abrasion of the surface provides anchor sites to achieve a strong bond between the pre-existing abraded finish and the fresh coat of wooden floor finish.

摘要: The present invention provides a debugging application operable to synchronize debug information associated with multiple software components to a common frame of reference. These multiple software components may be executed on a common platform and may have distinct diagnostic applications associated with them. This debugging application includes a first diagnostic application operable to gather output diagnostic information associated with the first software application. A second diagnostic application gathers output debug information associated with a second software application. A diagnostic agent receives the diagnostic information associated with both the first software application and the second software application and may combine these using a common frame of reference. This information may then be outputted by the debugging application to an external diagnostic monitor. This eliminates the need for individual operators to cross-reference sources of debug information and in so doing provide an improved debugging environment for development and testing of both application and operating system software applications.

摘要: This disclosure is directed to a communications device having a comparator that receives a signal associated with an output and produces a signal associated with a difference between a reference signal and the output signal. A loop filter is coupled to the comparator and accepts the difference signal. An oscillator is coupled to the loop filter and accepts the loop filter signal. It produces a signal with a frequency-characteristic in response. The oscillator can operate at a plurality of segments. A segment selection circuit is coupled to the oscillator. It determines which segment will be selected based upon a signal associated with an expected frequency characteristic, and outputs a signal associated with the particular segment. In response, the oscillator can then change its operational state to the particular segment. An amplification circuit is coupled to the oscillator, and produces an output signal with the particular frequency characteristic.

摘要: A method and apparatus for unloading long ribbon rails which are carried on a transport car on bunks which hold the rails in four or five different tiers each containing eight to ten rails. A special railcar is equipped with a gantry crane which feeds the rails from the bunks into power driven thread boxes. The thread boxes grip the rails and feed them rearwardly onto the railway bed. After the first two rails have been unloaded side by side, the next pair are fed into the thread boxes. The thread boxes feed these rails out of the bunks as the train is moved forwardly at the same speed as the rails are fed rearwardly so that the rails are unloaded end to end with the first pair of rails. The railcar has retractable over the road wheels that allow it to be towed on the roadway to the site of the rail transport car.
