摘要: Methods of building surface amplification devices are disclosed. Methods and devices for detecting target nucleic acids are also disclosed. Primer pairs are seeded on the surface of a substrate using a connecting compound between the primers to optimize the distance between immobilized primers. The flexible linking compounds avoid the need to bend extension products during later amplifications.

摘要: A apparatus and process for ablating a matrix of high density vias in a flexible substrate. The apparatus is cantilevered on a horizontal shelf from a partition where it can be rigidly supported. A vacuum container reciprocates towards and away from the partition and supports the horizontal shelf by permitting supporting casters to bear on and be supported by the reciprocating container. When the container is away from the partition, servicing of the apparatus as well as the insertion an removal of substrate can occur. When the container is adjoined to the partition, a vacuum can be drawn on the apparatus and processing commenced. A continuous flexible substrate is provided extending in a circuitous path between a supply roll and a take up roll, all interior of the container. The flexible substrate is maintained under constant tension and incrementally advanced. The substrate is incrementally advanced and stopped, passing across a table. When the roll is advanced, the table releases the substrate and is cleaned of the debris resulting form previous ablations. When the roll is stopped, the table clamps and precisely levels the substrate for sequential ablation of the substrate.

摘要: A buoyancy-adjustable swim training vest for a user has a polymer-neoprene fabric formed garment member designed to substantially circumscribe the user's torso from neck to waist. A lower front of the vest has a front cover coupled to the vest and is vertically liftable. A back portion has a right side and a left side elastic wing members extending from a lower back portion designed to wrap frontward around the user's torso and detachably couple by respective hook and loop assemblies to each other, the vest, and the front cover, all coupled beneath the cover. An at least one polymer strap may be coupled detachably and adjustably by a latch to a buckle disposed on a lower edge of the front of the vest. At least one substantially sealable back pocket is disposed on an outer surface of the lower back portion of the vest designed to hold removable buoyant pads.

摘要: A hybrid optical-electrical neural interface is disclosed and described. The neural interface can include an array (100) having a plurality of micro-optrodes (HO). The micro-optrodes (110) are capable of optical and optionally electrical stimulation and recording, allowing bidirectional, multi-modal communication with neural tissue. At least a portion of the plurality of micro-optrodes (110) are independently optically addressable and include an optical waveguide along each micro-optrode (HO). Combining optical stimulation with electrical recording can allow artifact-free recording from nearby electrodes and in some cases even the same electrode, which is difficult to achieve with combined electrical recording and stimulation. The optical waveguide is configured to direct light towards a distal end (125) of the micro-optrode, allowing focal stimulation and recording. Penetrating micro-optrodes (110) can allow access to deep tissue, while non-penetrating micro-optrodes can be used for extraneural stimulation.

摘要: Described are methods and systems for acquiring real-time quantified melt data. A first Double-stranded nucleic acid are immobilized on a support. The temperature of the double-stranded nucleic acids is slowly ramped up until the double-stranded nucleic acids melt. Differences in fluorescence emission are used to signal when the melt occurred. An evanescent field is used to generate fluorescence emission.
