摘要: A fuel injection nozzle for an internal combustion engine includes a hollow nozzle body and a valve member liftably disposed in the nozzle body. The nozzle body has an orifice extending from the inside to the outside thereof. The valve member closes and opens the inner end of the orifice in accordance with lift of the valve member. Fuel can flow through the orifice to be injected into the engine when the valve member opens the inner end of the orifice. A nozzle geometry causes the rate of fuel injection to increase through a plateau as the valve member is lifted.

摘要: A fuel injection nozzle for an internal combustion engine includes a hollow nozzle body and a valve member liftably disposed therein. The nozzle body and the valve member define a space therebetween through which fuel is supplied to an orifice in the nozzle body. The valve member contacts the nozzle body at a position to block communication between the space and the orifice when the valve member is in the unlifted position. Fuel enters the orifice from the space as the valve member lifts. The valve member and nozzle body have opposing surfaces establishing a gap between the space and orifice. The gap has a cross-sectional area smaller than that of the orifice that remains constant as the valve member lifts through a predetermined range so that the rate of fuel injection increases through a plateau as the valve member lifts to a position above the predetermined range.

摘要: An exhaust purification apparatus includes a regenerative burner for repetitively regenerating a trap element located in the exhaust system of an internal combustion engine. The regenerative burner has a combustion chamber adapted to permit flow of exhaust gas from the engine exhaust conduit to the trap element. A hollow member is disposed within the combustion chamber to define an evaporation chamber therein. The hollow member has a side wall formed with a number of flame holes to permit fluid flow from the evaporation chamber into the combustion chamber. The evaporation chamber has a supply of air-fuel mixture through a mixture conduit having an end terminating in a discharge outlet opening into the evaporation chamber. The mixture conduit has a portion extending through the combustion chamber to promote fuel evaporation during a trap regeneration operation.

摘要: A fuel supply control device is disclosed wherein, as pressure of fuel from a fuel injection pump increases, a piston responsive to fuel pressure temporarily reduces or shuts off initial flow of fuel from the pump to a fuel injector through a series of fuel passageways. A second piston may be provided in a passageway to control movement of the first piston such that when the engine operates under relatively low loads at low speed, the second piston causes the first piston to restrict fuel flow. When the engine operates at relatively high speeds and high loads, the second piston cooperates with the first piston to feed fuel to the injector at high pressure.
