摘要： A liquid crystal display includes a signal line disposed on a substrate, a pixel electrode connected to the signal line and including a first subpixel electrode and a second subpixel electrode, a common electrode disposed opposite the pixel electrode, and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the pixel electrode and the common electrode. The liquid crystal layer is divided into domains including a first direction domain and a second direction domain in a region corresponding to the first subpixel electrode, and a third direction domain and a fourth direction domain in a region corresponding to the second subpixel electrode, and an area of the third direction domain is greater than about twice and less than about then times an area of the fourth direction domain.

摘要： In a liquid crystal display device, the device includes a first substrate, a second substrate and a liquid crystal layer interposed therebetween. The first substrate includes a pixel electrode, a thin film transistor connected to the pixel electrode, and also a hitch to connect both a lower and upper electrode of the pixel electrode. The second substrate includes a common electrode having a lower domain division part and an upper domain division part, in which each of domain division part is formed at the position corresponding to the lower and upper electrode of the pixel electrode, respectively. Through the electric field controller connected at both sides of the upper electrode of the pixel electrode, quality of display image can improve without a darkening area occurring at one part of the unit pixel.

摘要： A liquid crystal display (LCD) comprises a first substrate comprising a pixel electrode comprising one or more first domain-forming features and further comprising a first vertical alignment film disposed on the pixel electrode; a second substrate facing the first substrate and comprising a common electrode which comprises one or more second domain-forming features and further comprises a second vertical alignment film disposed on the common electrode; and a liquid crystal compound interposed between the first and second substrates, wherein the liquid crystal compound comprises liquid crystal molecules, ultraviolet (UV) hardening monomers and UV hardening initiators, and the liquid crystal molecules are pre-tilted to form an angle greater than 88 degrees but less than 90 degrees with respect to the first substrate when no driving power is applied to the pixel and common electrodes. Fast response time is provided in some embodiments.

The pixel electrode has a first electrode portion, a second electrode portion and a connecting electrode portion to electrically connect the first and second electrode portions to each other. The second electrode portion is spaced apart from the first electrode portion by a predetermined distance in a first direction. The TFT is electrically connected to the pixel electrode to drive the pixel electrode. The storage line overlaps a portion of the pixel electrode and has an asymmetric connecting electrode closer to the second electrode portion than to the first electrode portion.
