Abstract:
A cutting insert for material-removing machining is formed with at least one transversely extending cutting edge, a transversely extending inner groove extending along and generally the full length of the cutting edge and having an outer edge and an inner edge spaced longitudinally from the outer edge and lying between the outer edge and the cutting edge, and an outer transversely extending groove extending along and generally the full length of the cutting edge and having an outer edge and an inner edge spaced longitudinally from the respective outer edge. The inner groove lies between the outer groove and the land. A transversely extending land surface extends immediately adjacent the cutting edge along the cutting edge between the inner groove and the cutting edge. A row of transversely spaced outer chip-forming elements lie wholly between the outer-groove outer edge and the inner-groove inner edge.
Abstract:
A tool changing device for tool systems in which a tool head and a tool holder are connected with one another by means of an automatic clamping mechanism which includes an integrated clamping screw. The tool changing device includes a lifting carriage which is movable on several axes and a rotatably mounted, motor driven pivot arm which is mounted on the lifting carriage. The pivot arm has a free end which is equipped with a gripper holder having at least four tool locations and an integrated clamping shaft. Both ends of the clamping shaft are provided with profiles which permit transfer of torques. The clamping shaft can be moved axially in such a manner that it can be coupled with the clamping screw of a tool holder either from the left or from the right.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an improved toolholder for releasably mounting on a tool support member. The toolholder is provided with a forward end for receiving a tool and a shank extending from the forward end for being releasably received in a bore of a tool support member. The shank has a first section for interference fitting with the bore of the tool support member when a rearwardly facing face on the toolholder is in abutment with a forwardly facing surface on the tool support member. The shank has a second section, rearwardly of its first section, for expansible abutment with the bore of the tool support member.
Abstract:
A machine tool turret having a plurality of tool holders with tension rod-actuated mechanisms for locking the tool head can be rotated to bring a selected tool holder into engagement with jaws of a release unit, applying to the tension rod a force sufficient to compress the disk spring stack thereof and release the tool and to the holder a counterforce which is equal and opposite in direction and prevents the release unit from stressing the bearings of the turret or any spindle bearings which may make the tool holder rotatable.
Abstract:
A tool head is clamped in a tool holder by rotating a radial or axial clamping shaft which has spiral camming surfaces urging clamping elements outwardly to engage ramps on the pin of the tool head which is received in a socket of the tool holder. The spiral cam can be a second or higher order mathematical curve and the shaft can carry an ejection cam as well.
Abstract:
A cutting bit (1) has a bottom side (2), flanks (3) that are inclined at a positive clearance angle (.alpha.) with respect to the bottom side (2), and a top side (7). The top side (7) has cutting edges (5 and 5') which are inclined with respect to one another at an angle of inclination (.lambda.). The cutting bit is made by sintering a blank which is formed using a pressing tool (10). The pressing tool includes a mold member (11), an upper die (12), and a lower die (13). The upper die (12) has a pressure face (20) which corresponds precisely, except for an allowance for the shrinkage ratio of the sinter material, to the actual surface of the upper side of the cutting bit (1). When the upper die (12) is fully inserted into the mold (11), a free space (31) exists between the upper die (12) and the mold member (11), the free space being disposed above the delimiting line (21) of pressure face (20) of the upper die (12).
Abstract:
An apparatus for receiving a tool carrier comprises a tool holder defining a receiving bore adapted to receive a portion of the tool carrier, an arrangement for supplying pressurized fluid to the receiving bore of the tool holder to clean adjacent surfaces of the tool holder and the tool carrier during insertion of the tool carrier into the receiving bore; and an arrangement for detecting the pressure of the fluid supplied to the tool holder for ascertaining whether correct operational positioning of the tool carrier exists with respect to the tool holder.
Abstract:
A boring tool is provided with first and second rectangular reversing cut plates which have, in each case, two short and two considerably longer cutting edges. One of the reversing cut plates is arranged connecting to or intersecting the axis of rotation of the boring tool, while the other reversing cut plate 12 is arranged connecting to the outer circle defined by the boring tool. The cutting edges active in each case on the face side of the boring tool have a straight construction and they overlap to a greater or lesser extend, in accordance with the bore diameter. The bend-free and jog-free construction of the active cutting edges of the cut plates makes possible the use of the same reversing cut plates on boring tools having different diameters with only the extent of the overlap of the cut plates being changed.
Abstract:
A tool assembly has a tool holder having a holder support face, a clamping dog having a dog surface spaced from and facing the holder support face, and a tool between the holder and the dog and having an end cutting edge, a face directly confronting the support face, and a surface directly confronting the dog surface. One of the surfaces is formed with a recess and the other surface is formed with a bump engageable in the recess. The dog surface can be pressed in a clamping direction generally perpendicular to the faces and surfaces toward the support surface and to clamp the tool between the dog and the support. The bump and recess are so dimensioned that they engage each other at at least three locations spaced from one another perpendicular to the clamping direction.
Abstract:
A clamping device for connecting a toolhead and a toolholder on machine tools using a cylindrical or at least partly conical location hole with corresponding shank, wherein a rotatable clamping bolt with spiral guides is used, in clamping to move clamping members outwards from within, thus providing a positive and non-positive locking of the toolhead and the toolholder. The clamping bolt has at least one stop to limit the angle of rotation in clamping. The retainer for the clamping members is spring mounted in the toolholder.
