Abstract: A method includes providing a cartridge and the cartridge includes a slot for receiving a microfluidic chip having a set of first channels. The cartridge also includes a set of second channels and each channel of the set of second channels is coupleable to a different channel of the set of first channels during use with the microfluidic chip. The cartridge also includes an indent configured for engagement and alignment of the cartridge during use. The method also includes inserting the cartridge into a device, such that the cartridge engages a first biasing member of the device configured for alignment of the cartridge in a first direction. The first biasing member is configured to bias movement of the cartridge into locking position with a notch of the device.

Abstract: A system includes a sorting chamber and a fluid channel in fluid communication with the sorting chamber. A peristaltic pump is in fluid communication with the fluid channel to pump fluid through the fluid channel to the sorting chamber at a fluid flow rate. A fluid damper is in fluid communication with the sample fluid channel. The fluid damper includes a gas and reduces variations in the fluid flow rate by compression and expansion of the gas in response to fluid flow in the fluid channel.

Abstract: Provided herein are devices, systems, and methods for particle sorting, including cell sorting, using microfluidics cartridges and microchips and the manufacture of the microfluidics cartridges and microchips by high-throughput approaches. Such methods, devices, and systems can be used to identify, sort, and collect a subset of particles or a single particle from a sample. The capability to manufacture such microfluidic tools in high volume may lower production costs and allow for the microfluidic tools to be used as consumables.

Abstract: Provided here are cell detection systems, fluidic devices, structures and techniques related to particle and cell sorting and detection in fluid, for example sorting specific subpopulations of cell types. A method for verification of sorting of particles includes receiving a first detection signal that is associated with optical characteristics of a particle in a first channel. A sorting channel of a plurality of second channels is determined based on the first detection signal, thereby determining the sorting of the particle into the sorting channel based on the optical characteristics of the particle. A sorting signal for sorting the particle from the first channel into the sorting channel is transmitted. A second detection signal is received that is associated with the presence of the particle in the sorting channel. The sorting of the particle from the first channel into the sorting channel is verified based on the second detection signal.
