Abstract:
The present invention aims to provide a method of producing a powdered hydrophilic modified polyrotaxane, which enables production of a powdered hydrophilic modified polyrotaxane excellent in storage stability in an industrially advantageous way. The present invention provides a method of producing a powdered hydrophilic modified polyrotaxane, comprising: a hydrophilic modification step of preparing a solution of a hydrophilic modified polyrotaxane by modifying all or part of hydroxy groups on a cyclodextrin of a polyrotaxane with hydrophilic modifying groups, the polyrotaxane containing the cyclodextrin, a polyethylene glycol included in the cavities of the cyclodextrin molecules in a skewered manner, and a capping group that is placed at each end of the polyethylene glycol and prevents dissociation of the cyclodextrin molecules from the polyethylene glycol; and a drying step of spraying the prepared solution of the hydrophilic modified polyrotaxane and drying the solution of the hydrophilic modified polyrotaxane in a heated gas stream.
Abstract:
The present invention aims to provide a hydrophilic modified polyrotaxane composition having excellent storage stability. The present invention relates to a hydrophilic modified polyrotaxane composition comprising: a hydrophilic modified polyrotaxane produced by modifying, with hydrophilic modifying groups, all or part of hydroxy groups on a cyclodextrin of a polyrotaxane containing the cyclodextrin, a polyethylene glycol which is included in the cavities of the cyclodextrin molecules in a skewered manner, and a capping group that is placed at each end of the polyethylene glycol and prevents dissociation of the cyclodextrin molecules from the polyethylene glycol; and a polyphenol antioxidant.

Abstract:
The present invention prevents occurrence of electrical discharge on an electrically conductive structure in an environment in which high-energy electrons impinge onto the structure or on an electronic element mounted to a surface of the structure, which electrical discharge would otherwise occur when the potential of the structure or the electronic element increases in the negative direction due to a negative charge flowing thereinto. An insulating tape bonded to the surface of the electrically conductive structure is partially cut-removed; an electrically conductive adhesive is applied to an exposed portion of the surface of the electrically conductive structure; and an insulating film is bonded to the electrically conductive adhesive, such that the electrically conductive adhesive is exposed to the outside. When encountering higher-energy electrons, the insulating film is charged, so that a strong electric field is applied to the electrically conductive adhesive, and electrons are emitted from the electrically conductive adhesive through field electron emission, to thereby prevent the potential of the electrically conductive structure from increasing in the negative direction.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a home care system in which a center terminal and a patient terminal are detachably connected to each other through communication lines, such as a public telephone line, an ISDN (integrated services digital network), a CATV (cable television), a radio and the like, and further to center terminals and patient terminals which constitute such a home care system. The patient terminal has an urgency transmitter device for transmitting a predetermined urgency code to the center terminal, and the center terminal comprises an urgency receiver device for receiving, while connected to a first patient terminal, the urgency code transmitted from a second patient terminal, and an urgency alarm device for informing of the fact that the urgency code has been received.
Abstract:
The exhaust pipe of an engine has a double-wall structure consisting of an inner pipe and an outer pipe, and the inner pipe is spaced from the outer pipe with a predetermined clearance (heat insulating layer). The exhaust pipe includes a fitting for connecting other parts. At this fitting portion, the outer pipe has a outer hole. Likewise, the inner pipe has an inner hole. A nipple is situated on the outer pipe around the edge of the outer hole and is fixed to the outer pipe. An oxygen sensor is fitted to the nipple, and it extends through the inner hole of the inner pipe. A seal which is provided between the oxygen sensor and the flat portion of the inner pipe slidably contacts the step and the flat portion such that the fitting is unaffected by unequal thermal expansion between the inner and outer pipes.
Abstract:
A butterfly valve adapted to be arranged in a pipe through which fluid can flow, the pipe having an axis and an outlet end, the valve comprising a valve shaft having an axis eccentric to the pipe axis, and a valve element integrally supported by the valve shaft. The valve is opened by a fluid pressure acting on the valve element. A part of the valve element on one side of the valve shaft has a tip portion bent along a pleat line substantially parallel to the shaft axis toward the upstream side of a fluid flow. The valve is arranged at the outlet end of the pipe to form a clearance between the valve element part around the pleat line and the outlet end of the pipe, to thereby allow the fluid to flow out through the clearance, when the valve opens from a closed position thereof.

A DC motor apparatus which can be started with a power supply having a small current capacity and which provides a large driving force. The DC motor apparatus comprises a permanent magnet in a rotor of the DC motor, a plurality of coils provided at a stator of the DC motor, a distributor for controlling the switching of current paths to the coils and a position detector for detecting a rotational position of the rotor of the motor to output switching signal to the distributor. A pulsating unit is further provided for pulsating currents supplied to the coils whereby a current flowing from the distributor to any one of the coils can be pulsated when the DC motor is activated, resulting in easy starting the DC motor.
Abstract:
Barium sulfate having a specific crystal structure and optical characteristics is disclosed. The crystals have a plate-like structure of which the aspect ratio is 5-100 and the ratio of the square of the circumference of the plate and the area of the orthogonal projection plane is 20:1-150:1. In a preferred embodiment, a thin film of 25 .mu.m thickness with 20% by weight of the barium sulfate powder concentration has a scattering transmittance of 70% or greater and a total transmittance of 85% or greater. The cosmetic compositions to which the barium sulfate is incorporated exhibits excellent extendibility and adhesion to the skin and can effectively hide the spots or freckles on the skin. The cosmetic composition satisfies both the fine naked skin feeling and the skin covering effect, which have never been satisfied by conventional cosmetic compositions.
