    摘要: The present invention relates to carbon based materials that are employed for hydrogen storage applications. The material may be described as the pyrolysis product of a molecular precursor such as a cyclic quinone compound. The pyrolysis product may then be combined with selected transition metal atoms which may be in nanoparticulate form, where the metals may be dispersed on the material surface. Such product may then provide for the reversible storage of hydrogen. The metallic nanoparticles may also be combined with a second metal as an alloy to further improve hydrogen storage performance.

    摘要: A method of using Raman imaging microscopy to evaluate drug actions in living cells is disclosed. Specifically the invention describes the methods of using Raman imaging microscopy to detect drug uptake, distribution, binding, and metabolism in a single cell, and to study drug pharmacokinetics at the cellular level. The method involves measuring the Raman image of both the drug and the cell. Control images and post-treatment images of the cell were studied. Ratio images were calculated and the requisite information was obtained from a study of the intensity of the bright areas in the ratio images.

    摘要: A water well and storage tank control system for use in isolated areas that utilizes a solar power source in conjunction with pneumatic pump apparatus for lifting well from a well bore hole for surface deposit in a storage tank. A solar power panel functions to continually charge into a storage battery which, in turn, is periodically applicable to energize a pump/compressor to generate air at increased pressure for conduction down the well bore. An airjet chamber immersed beneath the water level in the well bore receives input of the air at increased pressure and evacuates well water upward through a delivery pipe to a surface storage tank.

    摘要: Raman instrumentation for detecting for the presence of a molecular species in a including: a source of radiation for pumping the sample; apparatus for controlling the frequency and pulse width of radiation from the pumping source; a Raman spectrometer including a detector and means for collecting scattered photons from the sample; a radiation source for probing the sample; means for directing radiation from the probing source to the sample; and means to interface the spectrometer with the source of radiation for pumping. The radiation source for probing is, preferably, a monochromatic light source emitting radiation in at least one of the group including UV, visible, and near infrared radiation and, preferably, in the range of 220-1080 nm. The photons collected from the sample include elastically and inelastically scattered photons, and the spectrometer further including means for rejecting the elastically scattered photons. The pumping source is a microwave source.
