Abstract: A device detects seismic motion by linear motion of a seismic detection ball within an inner casing. Radial protrusions on the inside surface of a bottom wall of the inner casing maintain linear back-and-forth motion of the seismic detection ball while in contact with the casing bottom wall. On the inside surface of the perimeter wall of the inner casing, radially inward protrusions are formed parallel to one another to prevent rotation of the seismic detection ball in a circular path along the casing perimeter when it is lifted up from the casing bottom wall. The seismic detection ball is formed from a material unaffected by magnetic fields. The inner casing is suspended within an outer casing, in a condition of damped swaying. The inner casing is composed at least partially of a metallic material to provide sufficient weight to insure reliable automatic centering.

Abstract: This invention relates to the composite fiber incorporating the neutron-shielding properties consisting of a fiber-forming polymer as the core-component essentially containing certain compounds capable of shielding the neutrons and the other fiber-forming polymer as the sheath-component capable of bonding said core-component, while this invention also relates to the method of manufacturing said composite fiber embodied by this invention. The composite fibers embodied by this invention are not only capable of containing a large amount of the neutron-shielding compounds in the fiber themselves, but also capable of being made into knits and sewn fabrics by means of conventional spinning, knitting and sewing machines, and yet, these fabrics made from said composite fibers can be completely free from drop-out of even the slightest amount of the neutron-shielding compounds during either fabrication procedures or use and also free from any problem that may potentially be caused by atmospheric diffusion of the secondary radioactive material generated by the nuclear reaction. The neutron-shielding fabrics thus embodied will protect the surgical operators as well as the patients from any of the irradiated neutrons during surgical operations such as in removing cerebral tumor and also protect the operators of the nuclear-reactor from potential hazard of exposure to the neutron rays.

Abstract: An air-bag device capable of improving degree of freedom in setting of reaction forces according to physical frames of occupants, a vehicle occupant's lower limb protecting device and a device for protecting an occupant at the time of vehicle side collision using the air-bag device. Knees of an occupant of large build whose inertia load at the time of collision is great are assuredly protected by collective energy absorbing action of the upper cylinders (121, 121) and the lower cylinders (122, 122) at the time of collision. In a case of an occupant of small build whose inertia load at the time of collision is small, loads from the upper cylinders (121, 121) and the lower cylinders (122, 122) are exerted on the occupant in appropriate proportions according to physical size of the occupant to fulfill impact absorption at the time of collision.

Abstract: A solid-state imaging device and a method for manufacturing the same are provided. The solid-state imaging device includes a structure that provides a high sensitivity and high resolution without variations in spectral sensitivity and without halation of colors, and prevents light from penetrating into an adjacent pixel portion. A plurality of photodiodes are formed inside a semiconductor substrate. A wiring layer includes a laminated structure of an insulating film and a wire and is formed on the semiconductor substrate. A plurality of color filters are formed individually in a manner corresponding to the plurality of photodiodes above the wiring layer. A planarized film and a microlens are sequentially laminated on each of the color filters. In the solid-state imaging device, each of the color filters has an refraction index higher than that of the planarized film and has, in a Z-axis direction, an upper surface in a concave shape.

Abstract: A tongue presenter device is configured to improve handling and smoothness while pulling or taking a tongue and to remove any discomfort felt by an occupant when a belt conveying member is set to a tongue grasping position. As a motor rotates when the belt conveying member of a tongue presenter device is in a tongue storage position, an externally threaded shaft rotates so that a lever supporting member moves in a direction toward the front of a vehicle. During this, the lever is kept in its inclined posture so that the belt conveying member moves forward while keeping its level/position lower than a seat surface. As the belt pin reaches a sloping portion of the guide slot, the lever takes a standing posture and the belt conveying member is set to a tongue grasping position higher than the seat surface.

Abstract: By connecting correction information storing means to an exterior computer, such as a personal computer, and then utilizing the personal computer as a second image storing means, it is possible that correction information is read from the correction information storing means and M value gradation image data is read from the second image storing means, to reproduce the read M value gradation image in a state where position errors at connection part has been corrected In addition, since image data having N value smaller than M value is stored in a first image storing means that is required to be installed as an inner memory, it is possible to suppress the storage capacity of the first image storing means. As a result, the invention provides an image processing apparatus capable of reading gradation image with reduced memory costs of storing means.
