Abstract:
The present invention relates to processes for the synthesis of saturated and unsaturated silahydrocarbons using iron-containing or cobalt-containing catalysts. The processes of the invention can produce tetraalkylsilanes, phenyltrialkylsilanes, substituted phenyltrialkylsilanes and their mixtures, which are useful as lubricants and hydraulic fluids, as well as alkyl alkenylsilanes, phenyl alkenylsilanes and substituted phenyl alkenylsilanes and their mixtures, which are useful in the synthesis of saturated silahydrocarbons and other organofunctional silanes.
Abstract:
A dielectric component with electrical connection is provided for a laminated heater mat (3) for an ice protection system for an aircraft (1). The dielectric component with electrical connection comprises at least one dielectric layer (50, 55) comprising thermoplastic material, and the dielectric layer (50) or a stack of the dielectric layers (50, 55) has first and second main surfaces and a hole (505) extending between the first and second main surfaces. A first sprayed metal coating (501) comprises a first portion (503) deposited on the first main surface (502) adjacent to the hole (505) and a second portion (5014) which projects into the hole. A second sprayed metal coating (5013, 5513) comprises a third portion deposited on the second main surface (506, 552) adjacent to the hole (505) and a fourth portion (5015) which projects into the hole (505). The second portion (5014) overlaps the fourth portion (5015) to form a continuous conductive path between the first main surface and the second main surface. This provides a cheap, neat and thin connection through the dielectric layer or the stack of dielectric layers.
Abstract:
A process of forming an electronic device, by forming the source and drain contacts using photolithography, incorporating a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) over the electrical contacts to form an increased work function of the source and drain electrodes and further forming more favorable charge injection properties or within the channel region to improve film morphology and therefore improve charge transport. The SAM material is added to the photoresist stripper during a step of the photolithography process of forming electrical contacts.
Abstract:
Discloses herein is a catalytic process for producing organohalosilane monomers from a high-boiling residue resulting from the Direct Reaction of an organohalide with silicon. The high-boiling residue contains more conventionally cleavable compounds than conventionally uncleavable compounds. The process includes heating the residue in the presence of a catalyst comprising (1) one or more heterocyclic amines and/or one or more heterocyclic ammonium halides, and (2) one or more quaternary Group 15 onium compounds.

Abstract:
A security device for hindering the unauthorized opening of safes includes first and second, retractably cooperable longitudinal members. First and second lateral members are provided at respective outer ends of the longitudinal members. A locking mechanism locks the first longitudinal member to the second longitudinal member. A tension spring retractably biases the second longitudinal member into the first longitudinal member. The locking mechanism can include a clamping member swivellably attached to the first longitudinal member and containing a pawl member, while the second longitudinal member includes a sawtoothed element. The clamping member can then be swiveled, so as to push the second longitudinal member further into the first longitudinal member. A vernier arrangement may be included to further tighten the lateral members against the walls of the safe. The device provides, firstly, a visible deterrent and, secondly, a physical barrier to would-be intruders.

Abstract:
A method for performing real-time analytics using a business rules engine on real time heterogeneous materialized data views is disclosed. The method comprises processing of rows produced by views corresponding to events. The rows are processed according to business rules by a view engine. Views with conditions equivalent to rule conditions are subscribed to by a rule engine, which outputs action messages corresponding to the rule condition. Where the rule condition is satisfied, a statement to that effect is sent, with any available reportlets, to an alert engine. The alert engine handles alert states corresponding to the action statement, saves any corresponding reportlets, and generates a message to fire an alert to a notification engine. The notification engine formats the alert and sends the alert by a selected medium, such as email, a webservice call, or another network protocol.
Abstract:
A method of forming high-purity elemental silicon is disclosed. The method includes the step of heating a silica gel composition, or an intermediate composition derived from a silica gel composition, wherein the silica gel composition or intermediate composition includes at least about 5% by weight carbon, and the heating temperature is above about 1550° C. The heating step results in the production of a product which includes elemental silicon. Another aspect of the invention relates to a method for making a photovoltaic cell. The method includes the step of forming a semiconductor substrate from elemental silicon prepared as described in this disclosure. Additional steps are then undertaken to fabricate the photovoltaic device.
