摘要: Disclosed is an apparatus for drying particulate material. The apparatus comprises a rotatable drum positioned in an oven. Conduit means positioned in the drum offset from its axis of rotation form flow paths isolated from the inside of the drum leaving from a first portion of the oven to a second portion of the oven. In further aspect, lifting vanes are attached to the inside of the drum and extend generally longitudinally along the interior surface of the drum protruding generally radially inwardly. Catching vanes can be attached to the conduit means to extend generally longitudinally therealong protruding generally radially from the conduit means in a direction generally normal to a radius of the drum.

摘要: A process for the removal of volatile liquid from particulate material employing indirect heating of the particulate material by means of combustion gases resulting from the combustion of sulfur-containing fuel, and further employing purging of the thus heated particulate material by means of combustion gases produced by the combustion of low sulfur fuel to remove vaporized volatile liquid from the particulate material. Also disclosed is a system for performing such removal of volatile liquid from particulate material.

The circuit is configured to form an electrical connection with the electrochemical sensor such that the circuit can detect three distinct voltage ranges. The voltage ranges can be indicative of an absence of the electrochemical sensor, a presence of the sensor that is devoid of a sample, and a presence of the sensor with a sample. Test meters, methods for detecting when a sample starts to fill an electrochemical sensor for establishing when a reaction starts, and circuits for use with electrochemical strips, are also provided.

摘要: Startup procedure for carbon black plant comprising producing hot combustion gases low in free oxygen, bringing the hot combustion gases into indirect heat exchange relationship with water to produce a high pressure, saturated stream of steam which is reduced in pressure to produce superheated steam, and cooled hot combustion gases, and using the superheated steam stream to warm bag filters to operating temperatures before starting operation of the plant to produce carbon black. In a preferred embodiment, the superheated steam is combined with the cooled combustion gases and the combined stream used to warm the bag filters.

摘要: In a method of producing carbon black in which a carbonaceous material is burned in the presence of a combustion supporting gas, burning is terminated, by the addition of a quench fluid, to produce hot combustion gas containing carbon black, heat values are recovered from the hot combustion gas, by passing the same in indirect heat exchange with water, the combustion supporting gas and/or a carbonaceous material (usually a liquid feed material), to produce a combustion gas of reduced temperature and part of the combustion gas of reduced temperature is utilized as the quench fluid startup is improved by using a normally gaseous carbonaceous material as a feed, withdrawing at least part of the hot combustion gas, usually after using the same to produce steam, utilizing the withdrawn hot combustion gas at the quench until the combustion gas of reduced temperature reaches a predetermined temperature, usually about 500.degree. F., and then substituting a liquid carbonaceous material as at least part of the feed and substituting part of the combustion gas of reduced temperature for the withdrawn hot combustion gas.
