摘要: An exhaust aftertreatment filter (100) is provided for internal combustion engine exhaust, and includes an axially extending cylindrical filter roll (106) having pleated filter media (110) defining a plurality of axially extending flow channels (130), and having a first open-flow section (142) with open flow channels (140), and a second filtering section (148) with alternately sealed flow channels (136, 138) forcing exhaust to flow through (158) the pleated filter media (110). A core section (142) aides filter regeneration by providing an exothermic reaction. A combination catalytic converter and filter includes a first catalytic section (142) treated with a catalyst, and a second filter section (148) with alternately sealed flow channels (136, 138).

摘要: An oil fill cap for an internal combustion engine replaces a standard cap and provides separation of air and oil in a separation zone within the cap body. The cap body defines a plurality of passages therethrough, including an upstream passage, and first and second downstream passages meeting at a separation junction. The cap body defines a separation zone at the separation junction and receiving the air/oil mixture from the engine through the upstream passage, and sending separated air to the first downstream passage, and sending separated oil to the second downstream passage.

摘要: An exhaust aftertreatment filter and method is provided for filtering engine exhaust. Varying cell size is provided to spread trapped contaminant particulate along a distribution pattern reducing heat concentration and the risk of melting during regeneration, to minimize hot-spot meltdown otherwise caused by high density concentration of trapped particulate during regeneration. Cell size is varied by varying volume and/or height and/or width and/or length. Tapering of cells is also provided to change the cross-sectional area from the upstream to the downstream end.

摘要: A filter apparatus is described that has a torque limiting device, which may be a clutch mechanism, and which provides a protective function for a filter, so as to protect a filter from being over tightened and to thereby prevent damage to filter components. The clutch mechanism can also eliminate or reduce the need for torque measurement of certain filter components. The clutch mechanism can be located on one of the fluid filter, a filter head which engages the fluid filter, or a combination of both the fluid filter and the filter head.
