Saccharomyces mutants with defects in N-glycosylation which are obtainable by �.sup.3 H!-mannose suicide selection, introduction of one or several selective markers, selection of those strains which, after transformation with the plasmid YEpL/glucose oxidase, secrete 10 mg/l GOD or more into the culture medium after culture under standard conditions, are allelic to the ngd mutations in Saccharomyces cerevisiae, DSM 7042, DSM 7338, DSM 7160 and/or 7340 and express proteins with a uniform carbohydrate structure.

A film-treatment device has two spaced and generally parallel mounting plates each having a pair of plate holes and respective pairs of journals in the plate holes having respective journal holes centered on a pair of journal axes. The journal holes of the plates are coaxial with each other and the two journal axes are parallel. Rollers centered on respective roller axes each have a pair of substantially cylindrical end trunnions centered on the respective roller axis and rotatably received in a respective one of the journal holes for rotation of the respective roller therein with its roller axis coaxial with the respective journal axis. The journals of one of the journal axes are constructed so the respective roller can move against spring force limitedly away from the other roller. At least one journal of each journal axis is formed at the respective journal hole with two semicylindrical journal surfaces spaced axially apart, centered on the respective journal axis, of the same radius of curvature as the respective trunnion, and diametrally oppositely concave toward each other. Thus the respective trunnion rides on the respective journal surfaces with the respective roller axis lying on the respective rotation axis. This one journal of each journal axis is formed at the respective journal hole with two generally semicylindrical skew surfaces spaced axially apart, centered on respective skew axes inclined to and intersecting the respective rotation axes, of at least the radius of curvature of the respective trunnion, and diametrally oppositely concave toward each other.

The invention relates to a circuit for power-factor correction having a rectifier (14) which can be connected on the input side to an AC voltage source (10) and which is connected on the output side to at least one series circuit comprising a capacitor (CS1) and a diode (DS1), with the diode (DS1) being arranged such that the capacitor (CS1; CS2) cannot be charged through the diode (DS1; DS2) by the output signal from the rectifier (14), a first and a second electronic switch (T1, T2) connected in series as part of a half bridge or full bridge, each having a freewheeling diode (DF1; DF2) connected in parallel with the switch (T1; T2) and, with the [lacuna] formed by the junction point between the first and second switches (T1, T2) [lacuna] an output connection of the half bridge or full bridge is on the one hand connected via an inductance (L) to a point on the connection of the capacitor (CS1) and diode (DS1) of each series circuit comprising a capacitor (CS1) and a diode (DS1), and on the other hand forms a connection for a load (LD), and the signal at this connection during operation is at a considerably higher frequency than the output signal from the AC voltage source (10), an energy-storage capacitor (CS) which is connected in parallel with the two switches (T1, T2) and at least one further diode (DP1; DP2) which is arranged between the energy-storage capacitor (CS) and the rectifier (14) in such a manner that the energy-storage capacitor (CS) cannot be discharged through the rectifier (14).

A developing device for a photographic layer carrier, particularly a film, includes two rotary transport roller pairs transporting a film in a horizontal direction over a bath containing a processing liquid. Two liquid-admitting chambers are positioned opposite to each other in spaced relationship to form a processing space through which the film is transported. Each chamber is subdivided into two portions by a comb-like partition which loosens vortexes generated in one chamber portion upon pumping the liquid thereinto and ensures a uniform distribution of the liquid discharged into the processing space through a slot provided in the second chamber portion.

A coupling device for transmitting torque from a first film transporting rack to a neighboring second film transporting rack in a developing machine has a first shaft extending outwardly from a sidewall of one of the racks, a second shaft which extends outwardly from one sidewall of the other rack and is movable into axial alignment with the first shaft, first and second gears on the respective shafts, and a sleeve having an internal gear which is in permanent mesh with one of the gears and is movable axially into and from mesh with the other gear. The sleeve has internal elastic prongs which extend into a circumferential groove of the shaft for the one gear when the internal gear meshes with the other gear.

In a feedpipe of a container for refilling a photographic developing tank with a developer radial discharge holes are provided in the region of a valve mounted at the lower end of the feedpipe extended outwardly of the container. The developer liquid is discharged into the valve and then into the tank through these radial holes. To prevent overflowing of the liquid through these holes meshed elements are inserted into the radial holes.

The present invention is directed to mutations in the DGAT1 gene that produce an advantageous milk, tissue and/or growth rate profile in animals carrying the mutations. The present invention is also directed to methods of identifying animals carrying the mutations in order to facilitate the selection of animals with altered milk, tissue and/or growth rate traits.

The present application describes novel monoclonal antibodies, fragments and derivatives thereof which recognise mucosal addressin cell adhesion molecule-1 (MAdCAM-1). Also described are methods which utilise the monoclonal antibodies. Further, a soluble form of MAdCAM-1 is described as well as methods which utilise its presence in a subject.
