The spoolable tube exhibits unique anistropic characteristics that provide improved burst and collapse pressures, increased tensile strength, compression strength, and load carrying capacity, while still remaining sufficiently bendable to be spooled onto a reel in an open bore configuration. The spoolable composite tube can include an inner liner, an interface layer, fiber composite layers, a pressure barrier layer, and an outer protective layer. The fiber composite layers can have a unique triaxial braid structure.

    摘要: This invention relates to an improved termination connection for advanced fiber composite cables of the type comprised of fibers fixed in a matrix binder. In particular, the composite cable is provided with one or more ribs of tension wound binder impregnated fiber cured on the end portion thereof. Potting material is secured over the ribs at the end of the cable preferably having a parabolically curved outwardly tapered contour to distribute the longitudinal and transverse forces over the fibers in the cable.

    摘要: The drilling of highly angulated wellbores (with a rotary rig having a drill string terminated with a bit wherein drilling fluid is employed) is improved by employing in the highly angulated drill string a length of drill pipe which has a helical ridge disposed thereabout such that the flight of the helical ridge is wound so as to rise from the bit with the rotation of the drill string and the height of the helical ridge above the length of the surface of the drill pipe is 1 to 15 percent of the diameter of the drill pipe.
