Abstract:
The invention relates to a rope made of a textile fibre material for applications in which a diagonal pull may occur, characterized in that the rope is a core/sheath rope the core (1) of which and the sheath of which are composed essentially of a textile fibre material the core (1) of which is stranded and which exhibits a force-fitting winding with a tensile element (2, 2′, 2″) between the core (1) and the sheath.
Abstract:
A high traction synthetic rope comprising a braided sheath (8) adhered to a synthetic strength member (7) by means of a first synthetic portion (9) and portions of material (23) adhered to the outside surface of the braided sheath by means of a second synthetic portion (21), where the portions of material (23) are formed of a substance that differs from a substance mainly forming the second synthetic portion (21) and exhibits greater friction when wet or with greasy conditions and measured on an iron surface than does the substance mainly forming the second synthetic portion. Also methods of manufacturing such a high traction synthetic rope are disclosed. The rope shows reliable traction on driven rotating elements during wet/greasy conditions.
Abstract:
A rope having a cut-resistant jacket which includes a core comprised of a plurality of sub-ropes. The sub-ropes may be in a parallel strand configuration. The sub-ropes and the strands thereof may be made of fibers of a synthetic material, such as polyester, nylon, polypropylene, polyethylene, aramids, or acrylics. A cut-resistant jacket surrounds the core and is made from a material that has increased strength and/or abrasion resistance over the material of the core. The cut-resistant jacket may comprise steel wires and may further comprise braided steel wires or rope. The braided steel wires or rope may be covered with a plastic material for increased corrosion resistance. A filter layer may be disposed between the core and the cut-resistant jacket and may be wrapped around an outer surface of the core prior to the cut-resistant jacket being formed.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a method of forming an eye end termination on a rope having a core comprising a plurality of multi-strand subropes, and a rope having a core comprising a plurality of multi-strand subropes and at least one eye end termination. In one embodiment, a method of forming an eye end termination (16) on a rope (10) having a core (12) is disclosed. The rope comprises a plurality of multi-strand subropes (14) each of a first strength, and the method comprising the steps of: coupling a pair of subropes (14) in the rope core (12) together using a multi-strand coupling rope (18) of a second strength which is greater than said first strength, to thereby form at least part of the eye end termination (16). The step of coupling the pair of subropes (14) together comprises splicing a first portion of a coupling rope (18) to one of the subropes in the pair of subropes, and splicing a second portion of the coupling rope to the other one of the subropes in the pair of subropes.
Abstract:
Umbilical device, where the device has a longitudinal axis (x), and includes at least one elongated electrical cable or tube element; and an elongated load bearing component along the longitudinal axis (x) and having an external surface including at least one groove disposed along the longitudinal axis (x) and parallel thereof. The component includes a central core encompassed by a plastic or elastic layer, which is provided with the at least one groove, where the groove is designed for holding the cable or tube element within it, while allowing the cable or tube element to move substantially radially in the groove when the umbilical is bent and that the layer is made from several plastic or elastic elements.
Abstract:
Cable as suspension means for lifts. A synthetic fiber cable is connected with an elevator car or load-receiving means, with a sheathing, surrounding an outermost cable strand layer, consisting of synthetic material, preferably polyurethane, with the cable strands being twisted or laid up of individual aramide fibers, wherein each individual strand is treated with an impregnating medium for the protection of the fibers and a friction-reducing intermediate sheathing is interposed between the outermost strand layer and the inner strand layer, and in order to obtain an almost circularly shaped strand layer and increase the degree of filling of the strands, any gaps therein are augmented by filler strands.
Abstract:
The lifting sling of this invention comprises multiple discrete sling cores formed from a plurality of longitudinally extending parallel segments which are each contained inside separate cover material which form paths or channels arranged in an endless tubular loop. At least two separate sling cores are protected inside separate longitudinal endless paths of cover material which is sealed or fastened to prevent contact between the sling cores.
Abstract:
Synthetic strapping made up of two layers of synthetic filament yarns with a bonding band formed of compatible synthetic material located between these layers and fusion bonded to the surfaces of the yarns with which the band is in contact, some of the band material extending into spaces between the yarns and into spaces between the filaments of the individual yarn.
Abstract:
A hoisting rope for a hoisting apparatus has a longitudinal direction, a thickness direction and a width direction, and includes a group of load bearing members made of composite material comprising reinforcing fibers embedded in polymer matrix; and a coating encasing the group of load bearing members; wherein the load bearing members extend in an untwisted manner inside the coating parallel with each other as well as with the longitudinal direction of the rope throughout the length thereof, the load bearing members being substantially larger in width direction than in thickness direction of the rope and stacked against each other in thickness direction of the rope. An elevator includes the hoisting rope.
