Abstract:
An exemplary elongated elevator load bearing member includes a plurality of tension elements that extend along a length of the load bearing member. A plurality of weave fibers transverse to the tension elements are woven with the tension elements such that the weave fibers maintain a desired spacing and alignment of the tension elements relative to each other. The weave fibers at least partially cover the tension elements. The weave fibers are exposed and establish an exterior, traction surface of the load bearing member.
Abstract:
A belt for an elevator system and a method for making the same is provided. The belt includes a plurality of tension members that extend along a length of the belt and a jacket. The jacket substantially retains the plurality of tension members. The jacket maintains a desired spacing and alignment of the tension members relative to each other. The jacket includes a plurality of first fibers and a plurality of second fibers. The jacket defines at least one exterior, traction surface of the belt. The first fibers are at least partially disposed between the tension members and the traction surface of the belt. The second fibers are fill fibers. The first fibers have at least one property that distinguishes them from the second fibers.
Abstract:
An inflatable hollow belt which is longitudinally self shapeable, includes a woven body having warps on one side of lesser length and greater overall strength than the warps on the other side, and an interwoven weft so that the deflated belt can be compactly collapsed and the inflated belt curves along its length. The belt is produced by weaving the hollow belt with the warps along one side having a relatively high heat shrinkage, and then applying heat to the belt to shrink such warps. The wefts and the longer warps are of sufficient strength to withstand the inflation pressure.
Abstract:
A flexible weftless tape for strapping consisting of a single ply of juxtaposed strands bonded together by an adhesive of a mixture of two copolymers, namely: a copolymer of vinyl acetate and ethylene and a copolymer of vinyl acetate and dibutyl maleate, said mixture including a suitable plasticizer.
Abstract:
A tow drawing process in which a cohesive tow band is prepared from multiple yarn filament bundles by passing the bundles before combining them through a multi eyelet guide in which the eyelets are arranged in three stacked parallel rows. The outer rows are oscillated with respect to the center row so that the bundles cross and uncross each other to provide a tow band having a low level of filament intermingling.
Abstract:
A chain has interconnected links each formed by at least one endlessly and continuously circularly woven sheath of tubular shape and circular cross section made of plastic warp yarns and plastic weft yarns surrounding a core. These plastic warp and weft yarns are made of filaments of high tensile strength with a fineness-related maximum tensile strength of at least 5 cN/dtex.
Abstract:
A belt for suspending and/or driving an elevator car includes a plurality of tension elements extending along a length of the belt and a plurality of belt fibers transverse to the plurality of tension elements and interlaced therewith. The belt fibers define at least one traction surface of the belt. An edge fiber is located at a lateral end of the belt transverse to and secured to the plurality of belt fibers to secure the belt fibers in a selected position.
Abstract:
A method of forming a belt for suspending and/or driving an elevator car includes arraying a plurality of tension elements longitudinally along a belt and interlacing a plurality of warp fibers and a plurality of weft fibers with the plurality of tension elements to form a composite belt structure. A coating is applied to at least partially encapsulate the composite belt structure. The coating includes a base coating material and at least one additive mixed with the base coating material to improve an operational characteristic of the belt.
Abstract:
A belt for an elevator system includes one or more tension members arranged along a belt width and extending longitudinally along a length of the belt, each tension member including a plurality of fibers extending along the belt length. A jacket material at least partially encapsulates the plurality of tension members. An elevator system includes a hoistway, an elevator car located in the hoistway and movable therein, and a belt operably connected to the elevator car to suspend and/or drive the elevator car along the hoistway. The belt includes one or more tension members arranged along a belt width and extending longitudinally along a length of the belt, each tension member including a plurality of fibers extending along the belt length. A jacket material at least partially encapsulates the plurality of tension members.
