Abstract:
A minimum level for a stimulation signal used in room correction processing is determined by measuring background noise. The stimulation signal is repeated a number of times and resulting responses are recorded. The recording responses are averaged, and the average is subtracted from each recorded response to obtain the backg round noise present in each recorded response. A stimulation signal to background noise ratio is computed from the stimulation signal and background noise and compared to an SNR threshold to determine if the stimulation signal level is sufficient to support the room correction processing. The background noise may be AC hum introduced electronically into the response signal, acoustic noise introduced by AC ventilation systems or noise emitting devices (refrigerators, etc), and it may be structure-born noise introduced by shaking the microphone, e.g. a bus drives by, shaking the floor the microphone is standing on.
Abstract:
A method for predicting future states of a vehicle including the steps of selecting a model having n states reflecting dynamic features of the vehicle; inputting noisy sensor measurements representing a current state of the vehicle to generate (2n+1) sigma points Xi where i=0, . . . . 2n, each of the sigma points having n states; performing (2n+1) integrations, each integration includes propagating the n-states of the respective sigma points Xi through the non-linear function Yi=f(Xi); and combining the propagated sigma points to generate the predicted future states of the vehicle.
Abstract:
While an information handling device is in a reduced power state, the information handling device transitions from the reduced power state to a higher power state in response to receiving a message over an established wireless network connection that maintains a presence on a wireless network. In turn, the information handling device processes the message accordingly in the higher power state.
Abstract:
A system for defining a plurality of work zones within an otherwise open area. The system includes a framework formed from a plurality of spaced apart poles extending upward from a base surface. The poles are interconnected by a plurality of crossbeams at a height substantially above a standing user. At least some of the poles are adapted to provide a raceway for the delivery of utilities. The framework is capable of being arranged in a plurality of substantially non-linear patterns and includes an at least partially open area between adjacent poles.
Abstract:
The present invention is a putting alignment and aiming tool, to assist a user in aligning and aiming a putt on a putting surface with a golf ball. The tool can be colored or in black and white and have a generally horizontally flat coin body with a top flat surface with a middle portion, a bottom flat surface, two linearly squared off sides, a concaved top side and a convex bottom side. The tool is placed behind the golf ball with the bottom flat surface in flat physical contact with the putting surface that indicates an intended putting line. The top flat surface is also visible to the user to assist the user in aligning and aiming the putt on the putting surface with the golf ball towards a hole or practice cup. There is also an overall method of usage for both the colored and black and white tools also.
Abstract:
A connection assembly for creating a releasable fluid seal connection between two or more sections of tubing includes a male fitting and a female fitting. Connection assemblies generally include the male fitting having a pair of clasps that releasably interact with corresponding catch structures on the female fitting. Interactions between the female and male fittings can be rotatable with respect to the male and/or female fittings. Buckle structures are also disclosed having connection capabilities for a plurality of sections of tubing.
Abstract:
A seat belt assembly for a vehicle that includes an anchor portion having an anchor bolt adapted to attach to a vehicle. A seat belt web is associated with the anchor portion. A sheath member is coupled to the anchor portion with the sheath member having opposing top and bottom surfaces and opposing side surfaces. The opposing top and bottom surfaces and opposing side surfaces define an interior cavity. The sheath member includes a plurality of detents formed on the opposing side surfaces. An extension plate having opposing proximal and distal ends as well as opposing top and bottom surfaces bounded by opposing lateral edges is slidingly disposed within the interior cavity of the sheath member. The extension plate includes a pair of arms formed on the opposing lateral edges. An extension arm formed about the extension plate includes first and second ends with the first end coupled to the proximal end of the extension plate. The second end of the extension arm includes a web guide formed on an end. The pair of arms releasably engage the plurality of detents for telescopic adjustment of the extension arm whereby the web guide is movable to a plurality of positions.
Abstract:
A system and method for performing non-binary comparison of biological sequences includes a new measure ω0, which is a non-binary counting measure that is used in a stand alone module called VaSSA-1. This measure obtains substantially more information about sequences and comparisons between them than is gathered by conventional bioinformatics techniques.
Abstract:
A traffic crossing warning device is provided. The device includes a beam transmitter for transmitting a beam such as an IR beam, and a beam sensor in electrical communication with a signal processor for sensing the IR beam. In addition, the device includes a multimedia warning beacon, and a mounting device for supporting the beacon adjacent a roadway intersection. The warning beacon is activated when the beam sensor senses that the beam is not being received for a predetermined period of time. In one aspect, the warning beacon has a warning light, a speaker for delivering an audible signal, and a display for providing a written warning. A method for warning motorists of the presence of an oncoming locomotive object such as a train using the warning device is also provided.
