Furthermore, to ensure utility as a food, especially a functional food, or a raw material for a cosmetic or medicine, that includes the ceramide-containing material. [Solution] In the present invention, an adsorbent is added to an ethanol treatment solution of whole apples and/or apple juice extraction residue, the mixture is stirred and subjected to solid-liquid separation, and solid material precipitated from the solution is separated, after which water is added to the resultant concentrate and the temperature thereof is maintained, whereby the resultant settled component is recovered and dried to obtain a ceramide-containing material or ceramide. Using the ceramide obtained from whole apples and/or apple juice extraction residue, there are formed a composition for promoting production of hyaluronic acid and/or type II collagen, and a composition for promoting improvement of memory impairment and/or enhancement of the level of phosphorylation of extracellular signal-related kinases (ERK1/2).

Provided are, by measuring the content of prostate specific antigen (PSA) having a β-N-acetylgalactosamine residue at a non-reducing terminal of a sugar chain in a specimen, and comparing the measured value with a threshold value, (1) a method for estimating whether a Gleason score (primary pattern and secondary pattern) is not less than or less than a prescribed value, (2) a method for estimating whether the pathological stage (pT) is not less than or less than a prescribed value, and (3) a method for acquiring information for assessment indicating diagnosis or treatment should be actively conducted because a GS at gross total removal is expected to be higher than a GS at biopsy.

Provided is a cancer cell detection method that uses living body-derived cells and that includes: incubating living cells included in a sample taken from a person together with a fluorescently-labeled L-glucose derivative and detecting the fluorescently-labeled L-glucose derivative that is taken up into the cells; and detecting fluorescence emitted by the L-glucose derivative that is present within the cells while the cells are attached to a thin glass or plastic plate. Also provided is a dual detection method for cancer cells in which the cancer cell detection method that uses living body-derived cells is combined with a dyeing method using cells that are fixed using an alcohol or the like.

A magnetostrictive material having a value of magnetostriction of 100 ppm or more is produced by melting and casting an alloy material in the composition of range of 67-87 wt % Co with the balance consisting of Fe and unavoidable impurities and then performing hot forging. Furthermore, a magnetostrictive material having a value of magnetostriction of 130 ppm or more can be produced by performing cold rolling after the hot forging. Heat treatment at 400-1000° C. may also be performed after hot working or cold working.
