Abstract: A compound miter saw with an adjustable/bypassable bevel stop is disclosed. The compound miter saw includes a turntable rotatably mounted on a supporting frame. A power driven saw blade is pivotally mounted to the turntable and moves along a predetermined path from an upper raised to a lower operational position that includes a saw blade slot in the turntable. A bevel adjusting features selectively rotates the power driven saw blade relative to the turntable. The adjustable/bypassable bevel stop includes predetermined bevel stop settings at set angles, for example, such as 0.degree. and 45.degree., as well as an over-riding feature when angles either less than or greater than the predetermined bevel stop settings are desired. The over-riding feature does not require re-adjustment of the predetermined bevel stop settings.

Abstract: A switch lock-out device to prevent unintended operation of a power tool through inadvertent actuation of a trigger operably associated with a motor as disclosed. The trigger is pivotally mounted in handle grip for energizing the power tool when depressed. An outer free end of the trigger extends within the handle grip. The switch lock-out device includes an integral multiple-armed element that is pivotally mounted within the handle grip. The pivotally mounted multiple-armed element includes a first arm that engages the outer free end of the trigger to prevent actuation, a second arm that includes a manual engageable button that extends outside of the handle grip and a third arm that engages an internal wall of the handle grip in biased and resilient engagement. When the manually engageable button is depressed, a first arm of the multiple-armed element is pivoted out of engagement with the free end of the trigger for actuation of the trigger to operate the power tool. Subsequent release of the manually engageable button enables the third arm biased against an internal wall of a handle grip to return the second arm and its manually engageable button to its normal position for subsequent re-engagement with the free end of the trigger when released.

Abstract: A combination woodworking tool is disclosed. The combination woodworking tool includes a frame having a horizontal bed for supporting workpieces. A rigid column is supported by the frame in proximity to and extends vertically upwardly beyond the horizontal bed. A powerhead is mounted to an upper end of the column in overlying relationship to the horizontal bed, the powerhead being vertically adjustable for movement toward and away from the horizontal bed. The powerhead further includes a motor and spindle which extends below a lower end of the powerhead. The spindle is adapted to interchangeably receive a chuck for use with a drill or a collet for use with a router. The powerhead is adjustably and rotatably mounted relative to the column for positioning the spindle in predetermined vertical, angular or horizontal positions relative to the horizontal bed for vertical, angular or horizontal drilling or routing. In conjunction with the different relative positions of the powerhead, the horizontal bed is also adjustable to provide different woodworking operations. The powerhead is also adapted to be vertically adjusted in proximity to the horizontal bed while also be rotatably adjusted relative to the column for positioning the spindle in a horizontal and proximate position relative to the horizontal bed for cooperation with a separately mounted lathe tail stock and tool rest in operating the combination woodworking tool as a lathe.

Abstract: A quick action band saw blade tensioning device is disclosed. The band saw blade tensioning device is used in a band saw machine having at least upper and lower band saw supporting wheels operatively rotatably mounted to a supporting frame. The band saw blade tensioning device includes a wheel support pivotally mounted to the supporting frame about a wheel support pivotal mount, one of the upper and lower band saw supporting wheels being rotatably mounted to the wheel support about a wheel support rotatable mount, and an adjustable device for pivotally moving the wheel support and its rotatably mounted band saw about the wheel support pivotal mount so as to apply a greater or lesser tensioning force to the band saw as desired. The adjustable device includes an elongated wire spring which is attached to the pivoting wheel support to provide the desired tensioning force to the band saw blade. Tension is maintained by clamping the deflected spring into place.
