Abstract: A saw including a lockout mechanism having a lever and a plunge stop. The lever has a trigger abutment surface and is movable between a safety position in which the trigger abutment surface inhibits actuation of a trigger and a use position in which the trigger abutment surface permits actuation of the trigger. The plunge stop is coupled to the lever and is movable with the lever between a first position and a second position. The first position corresponds with the safety position of the lever. In the first position, the plunge stop inhibits a motor housing of the saw from being moved from a raised position toward a plunged position. The second position corresponds with the use position of the lever. In the second position, the plunge stop permits the motor housing to be moved from the raised position toward the plunged position.

The motive-power transmitting part is between the cutting tool and the slide bars and upward of the slide bars when the cutting-machine main body is at a top dead center.

Abstract: A compound saw includes a base, a housing, a transmission component and a table, the rear end of the table is rotatably connected to the housing, and is engaged with the cutter head through the transmission component, so as to expose the cutter head out of the first cutting slit or out of the second cutting slit when the front end of the table swings upward and downward. The cutter head of the compound saw can be switched between the bench cutting mode and the miter cutting mode. Accordingly, on one hand, the structure for switching between modes is simple and does not require the cooperation of too many parts; on the other hand, the switchover can be realized simply by manually operating the movable bench, without too many operations.

Abstract: A miter saw has a base having a detent notch, a table rotatably connectable to the base, a pivoting assembly connected to the table, and a saw assembly supported by the pivoting assembly. The saw assembly has a blade movable downwardly for a cutting operation. A locking mechanism is disposed on the table. The locking mechanism is movable between an unlocked position and a locked position for selectively unlocking and locking the table for rotational movement relative to the base about the miter axis. The locking mechanism has a lock lever rotatably connected to the table. The lock lever has a handle for moving locking mechanism between the locked and unlocked positions. The saw also has a miter detent assembly for selectively engaging and disengaging the detent notch.
