Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for the treatment and/or prevention of bacterial infection caused by Enterobacteriaceae bacteria in central nervous system and/or peripheral blood circulation in a mammal by administering effective amount of outer membrane protein A (OmpA) or its derivatives to a mammal. Also provided are a method for vaccinating a mammal to produce an antibody against bacterial infection caused by Enterobacteriaceae family in central nervous system and/or peripheral blood circulation and a method of detecting or diagnosing bacterial infections caused by Enterobacteriaceae family in central nervous system and/or peripheral blood circulation in a mammal. An antibody and a kit on the basis of the vaccinating method and detecting/diagnosing method are also provided.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for a simulative hair design by using computer programming has at least one processing unit, at least one monitor, an image recording device and a permanent device. The at least one processing unit can help hair stylist to design a hairstyle and store customers' data so that the customer can know outcome of hairdo before the hair stylist cut, educate apprentices who study hair design, count storage of expendables for salons or barbershops. The at least one monitor can display image of hairstyle combined with the customer's head image. The image recording device can take image of the customer and stores into the at least one processing unit. The permanent device can receive argument of permanent from the at least one processing unit so that the customer' hair can have well permanent.
Abstract:
The invention relates to novel nucleic acid and protein sequences from the mung bean Vigna radiata. The nucleic acid sequence, isolated from a bruchid resistant mung bean line, encodes a thionin-like protein with insecticidal properties.
Abstract:
A process system is disclosed for the treatment of a waste sand material containing metal contaminants. The waste sand material is the product of sandblasting techniques used to remove paint. The metal contaminants generally include lead, copper, chromium, mercury and cadmium, among other heavy metals. The process particularly provides for the concentration of the lead contaminant in a waste sand that can be economically reclaimed or disposed in an environmentally safe manner. The process also produces a cleaned sand that contains only residual amounts of the metallic contaminants in environmentally acceptable levels. The process provides for the contacting of the waste sand material with a paint decomposer, attrition abrading this sand slurry, size separating the attrition abraded slurry to form a waste sand slurry and a cleaned sand, and removing a portion of the excess water content in the waste sand slurry.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for the treatment and/or prevention of bacterial infection caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae and other gram-negative bacteria in central nervous system and/or peripheral blood circulation in a mammal by administering effective amount of outer membrane protein A (OmpA) or its derivatives to a mammal.
Abstract:
A system and method for short message (SM) barring. A storage device stores a service configuration record comprising a telephone number, a first parameter and a second parameter. The first parameter indicates whether the telephone number allows incoming short message service (SMS) in a first mobile network, and the second parameter indicates whether the telephone number allows short message transmission via a second mobile network. A process unit receives a SM transmission request with a destination telephone number and an SM, acquires both the first parameter and the second parameter corresponding to the destination telephone number from the service configuration record, and transmits an error message if both the first parameter and the second parameter are negative.
Abstract:
A system and a method for managing an incoming call are provided. The system includes a first mobile device wirelessly connected to a first answering module and a second mobile device wirelessly connected to a second answering module. The first mobile device and the second mobile device communicate with a telephone system. An authentication matrix for grouping the first and second answering modules into a same group is stored in both the first and the second answering modules. When the first mobile device receives an incoming call through the telephone system, the second answering module selectively takes over to communicate with the incoming call.
Abstract:
An ice cube maker has an upper container, a cooling module assembly mounted to the upper container, a lower container, a water flow controller and an ice module assembly. The upper container acts as a reservoir and holds a liquid. The cooling module assembly is attached to the upper container and chills the liquid in the upper container. The water flow controller is mounted between the upper container and the lower container and controls the chilled liquid entering the lower container. The ice module assembly is attached to the lower container and freezes the chilled liquid into ice cubes in a short time. The ice cube maker allows people who do have a refrigerator to make ice cubes and chilled liquid. The ice cubes and chilled liquid do not have any strange smell.
Abstract:
A detector for detecting and simultaneously diagnosing at least one subtype of human papilloma viruses (HPV) contained in a biological sample is provided. The detector comprises: a carrier, a plurality of micro-dots immobilized on the carrier, wherein each micro-dot is for identifying one particular HPV subtype, and the HPV subtype is one selected from a group consisting of 39 different HPV subtypes; and at least one oligonucleotide sequence contained in each the micro-dot that is specific to the one particular HPV subtype, wherein the at least one oligonucleotide sequence serves as a detection probe that hybridizes specifically with an L1 gene sequence of the one particular HPV subtype to form a hybridization complex as a detection indicator, so that each micro-dot identifies one particular HPV subtype via a corresponding oligonucleotide of the one particular HPV subtype, and thereby detecting and simultaneously identifying subtypes of human papilloma viruses.
Abstract:
An ice cube maker has an ice tray, a thermoelectric cooling chip, a heat sink and a fan sequentially mounted together. The ice tray has a top surface and multiple recesses formed in the top surface. When liquid is placed in the recesses in the ice tray, the thermoelectric cooling chip freezes the liquid and forms ice cubes. The ice cube maker allows people who do have a refrigerator to make ice cubes. The ice cubes do not have any strange smell.
