摘要: An information transmission system for simultaneously transmitting baseband signals and broadband signals via a two-wire line between a central office and at least one subscriber. In one embodiment, a shared bidirectional splitter filter mounted on a circuit board communicates in one direction toward the subscriber over a subscriber line, and communicates in an opposite direction toward the central office. A baseband communication unit and a broadband communication unit are mounted on the circuit board, and at least one hybrid circuit is interposed between the filter and the baseband unit and broadband units. A central interface control unit is also mounted on the circuit board. The central interface control unit communicates in one direction toward the central office, and communicates in an opposite direction toward the baseband and broadband units. In another embodiment, the bidirectional filter is replaced with a plurality of unidirectional filters and a shared hybrid circuit.

摘要: For signal level adjustment of a multitone signal received over a transmission line (1) during a training sequence in a DSL system, a programmable high-pass filter (2) is connected to the transmission line (1). A programmable gain control unit (4) is connected between the filter (2) and an A/D converter (5). A digital signal processor (6) is connected with its inputs to the A/D converter (5), with control outputs (7, 9) to control inputs (8, 10) of the filter (2), and with control outputs (11, 13) to control inputs (12, 14) of the gain control unit (4). The processor (6) detects signal level differences between the highest and the lowest tone of the multitone signal and programs the filter (2) to make the signal levels of the highest and the lowest tone equal. The processor (6) furthermore programs the gain control unit (4) to adjust its total signal output level to coincide with the dynamic range of the A/D converter (5)

摘要: The present invention relates to a method, device and system for fast protection of an optical network system, in particular for a Passive Optical Network (PON), such as a Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Network (GPON). In the method, communication failure between a first optical network device and a first optical line termination device is detected. Switching of functionality from the first optical line termination device to a second optical line termination device is initiated, and a control message is sent from the second optical line termination device to the first optical network device such that the first optical network device is prevented from moving into initial state. Furthermore, the method comprises determining and setting timing settings for the first optical network device.

摘要: To minimize power dissipation in a line driver (3) in a central office (CO) for driving a DSL connection to a network terminal (NT) with a predetermined maximum constellation size, the central office (CO) supplies the line driver (3) with a predetermined supply voltage during a training sequence, and transfers data with a predetermined power spectral density in all available channels. The network terminal (NT) measures the signal-to-noise ratio of each channel, and transfers information to the central office (CO) about channels having signal-to-noise ratios that enable transfer of data. The central office (CO) reduces the power spectral density to a lowest possible value that still enables transfer of data in all channels having signal-to-noise ratios above a predetermined threshold as set by the maximum constellation size, calculates a sum of power to be transmitted in said channels, converts said sum into a corresponding line driver output voltage, and reduces the line driver supply voltage in correspondence thereto.

摘要: Method and transmitting node for adjusting transmission over xDSL lines connected to the transmitting node. The method involves transmitting (1006) a first signal A1 on a first line (304), and transmitting (1008) a second signal A2 on a second line (306), the second signal A2 being related to the first signal A1. The method further involves adjusting (1010) the transmission of the second signal A2 on the second line (306), such that a contribution from the second signal A2 interferes constructively with a signal A1′ at the second end (304:2) of the first line (304), where the signal A1′ represents the signal A1 having propagated through the first line.

摘要: A method and arrangement in a communication system for dynamically allocating communication system frequency spectrum after cross-talk interference between transmission medias used for upstream and downstream communication in the frequency spectrum. After detecting cross-talk interference on a disturbed transmission medium caused by transmission on a disturbing transmission of medium, the arrangement transmits a media control signal on the disturbed transmission medium and detects a reproduced media control signal that is reproduced due to cross-talk on the disturbing transmission medium. The disturbed or disturbing transmission media can then be dynamically allocated different frequency spectrum to eliminate the interference. In one embodiment, each transmission medium has a default transmission direction, and if one of the transmissions is in a direction opposite the default direction, that transmission is reassigned to another transmission medium.

摘要: In an arrangement for securing an ADSL connection to an ADSL transceiver connected together with a telephone to a common telephone line; there are devices for setting a first number and a second, lower number, respectively, of bits to be allocated to the ADSL connection. Moreover, there are devices for detecting whether or not a ringing signal is present on the line and whether the telephone is in the off-hook or the on-hook condition. The first number of bits is allocated when neither the ringing signal nor the off-hook condition is detected, and the second, lower number of bits is allocated when the ringing signal and/or the off-hook condition is detected.

摘要: A method and an apparatus transmit and receive information in a cable TV network including at least one base station connected to a branching cable network, branching from the base station to at least two subscribers, provided with transmitters. A unique carrier frequency is assigned to each of the subscriber's transmitters, the carrier frequencies being orthogonal. Signals from the subscriber's transmitters are transmitted simultaneously, received in the base station as a broadband signal, and separated using a common algorithm.

摘要: A pluggable transceiver is provided for achieving a redundant connection in a communication network when inserted in a communication network node of the communication network. The pluggable transceiver is connected to a first cable on a first input and is directly connected to two or more data-plane ports when inserted. The pluggable transceiver comprises a converter to receive incoming data in a first representation and convert the incoming data from the first representation into a second representation, and a distributor to distribute the incoming data to a first data-plane port among the two or more data-plane ports in the second representation. The pluggable transceiver comprises a first selector to select the first data-plane port and receive outgoing data from the first data-plane port in the second representation, where the first data-plane port is active.
