Abstract:
An imaging member includes a surface layer comprising a fluorosilicone and an infrared-absorbing filler. At least 75% of the siloxane units in the fluorosilicone are fluorinated. Methods of manufacturing the imaging member and processes for variably lithographic printing using the imaging member are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Different solvents for a dampening fluid are disclosed. The solvent is a volatile hydrofluoroether liquid or a volatile silicone liquid. Such liquids have a lower heat of vaporization, a lower surface tension, and better kinematic viscosity compared to water, which is the conventional solvent used in dampening fluids. The dampening fluids, which are relatively nonpolar, can be used in a combination with polar inks to form a new type of digital lithographic printing system.
Abstract:
This disclosure is directed to functionalized carbon black material that may be particularly usable for as a filler material to a number of beneficial uses, particularly in image forming devices. The disclosed functionalized carbon black material compositions include hydrophobic carbon black particles surface passivated via the use of an NB-block copolymer where the NB block contains a pentafluorostyrene-maleimide alternating polymer and the B block contains pure pentafluorostyrene. The A/B portion allows for the polymer to adsorb onto the carbon black while the b-block acts as the stabilizer in fluorinated systems. Fine dispersions result from the addition of poly (pentafluorostyrene/Maleimide-b-pentafluorostyrene) or P(PFS/MI-b-PFS) passivated carbon black to fluorinated polymers, enhancing the physical and mechanical properties. The disclosed surface passivated carbon black particles are particularly usable for improving operational characteristics of fluorosilocone-based reimageable surface layers of imaging members employed in variable data digital lithographic image forming devices.
Abstract:
A spill proof, user-friendly dispensing system that protects users from exposure to toxic fluids (e.g., Ethylene Glycol used in MICR ink) includes a bottle loading mechanism for feeding ink or other fluids to a respective supply tank of an image forming device, and a quick connect gravity feed multipurpose bottle apparatus. Ink replenishing bottles can be inserted upright into holder of the bottle loading mechanism, connected to a supply tank, and folded back out-of-the-way in a dispensing position. The bottle may be rotated from a gravity feed position to a rotated position for removal and installation while the bottle remains in the holder. The bottle when empty may be used to collect waste from the image forming device.
Abstract:
An embodiment of the present invention provides a method of accelerating a network connection to a wireless network and avoiding unnecessary wait intervals, comprising synchronizing DHCP discover or request packets with an authentication mechanism utilized by the wireless network. In an embodiment of the present invention the wireless network may conform to Institute for Electrical and Engineers (IEEE) 802.1x standards and specific 802.1x states may trigger a DHCP request to ensure a DHCP process will start in a synchronized way, on-time when needed and capable to provide network access.
Abstract:
A system and method are provided for enclosing a plurality of cleaning unit components in a moist cleaning unit environment, the plurality of cleaning unit components cooperating to employ a cleaner roller in an image forming device to facilitate effective cleaning of a reimageable surface in an image forming device using a proposed variable data digital lithographic image forming architecture. A range of solvents may be applied to a hard smooth high surface energy surface of the cleaner roll and a cleaning unit component internally positioned within the cleaning enclosure to clean the surface of the cleaner roll. Mechanical components are properly placed prior to the cleaner roll-reimageable surface nip to ensure that residual liquid on a surface of the cleaner roll is removed.
Abstract:
A seal assembly comprises a first ring and a second ring which are rotatable relative to each other about a longitudinal axis (A-A). A first annular seal surface is formed on the first ring and is inclined with respect to the longitudinal axis and a second annular seal surface is formed on the second ring and is complementarily inclined to, and in abutment with, said first annular seal surface on the first ring. An annular groove is formed in at least one of said first and second seal rings adjacent to the seal surface on said seal ring and preferably a portion of the other ring projects into, or to a location adjacent to, the annular groove.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a tunneling mechanism that enables frames generated by a MAC layer management entity (MLME) to be transmitted by another. By doing that, a pair of stations (STAs) can perform functions such as (re)association, authentication, and the like, without having to transmit frames over-the-air but, instead, use a different MLME for this purpose. This enables the station management entities (SMEs) of a pair of multi-band capable STAs to provide a seamless fast session transfer (FST), including the provisioning of multi-band (de)authentication and (re)association.
Abstract:
A fixing system suitable for use in a vehicle includes a main body portion and engagement means adapted for positive engagement, in use, with a part of a vehicle, wherein the engagement means comprises at least two rigidly spaced-apart engagement surfaces.
Abstract:
A system and method are provided for improving stack integrity for a set of image receiving media substrates at an output of a compiler in an image forming device positioning a plurality of pairs of rotating shelf structures in a vicinity of an exit/ejection port of an image receiving media processing or post-processing unit. The plurality of pairs of rotating shelf structures cycle between a first (support) position and a substantially orthogonal second (drop) position with respect to a rotating axis for the rotating shelf structures. Each of the rotating shelf structures has a uniquely-portioned top surface that includes a substantially-parallel top (supporting) portion and a ramped lead-in portion facing the exit/ejection port from the image receiving media processing or post-processing unit in an effort to reduce any image receiving media substrate “stubbing” against a first of the plurality of pairs of rotating shelf structures in a process direction.
