摘要: In an example, a method of wetting a print blanket includes receiving a null cycle trigger during a printing session. The method also includes maintaining printing voltages on a forecast BID (binary ink developer) that has been prepared to print a next color separation onto a photoreceptor, and applying wet null voltages to a non-forecast BID. The method then includes engaging the non-forecast BID with the photoreceptor to transfer fluid other than ink to the photoreceptor during the null cycle.

摘要: A liquid application device includes an application roller, a container, a supply roller, a transfer unit, and a controller. The application roller applies a liquid to a target. The container stores the liquid. The supply roller rotates with the supply roller immersed in the container and supplies the liquid to the application roller. The transfer unit contacts the target with the application roller and causes the application roller to apply the liquid to the target. The controller controls an operation of the liquid application device. In a state in which the transfer unit does not contact the target with the application roller, the controller controls the supply roller to rotate and stop at a position different from a pre-rotation position of the supply roller.

摘要: A liquid development apparatus uses a developer to develop electrostatic latent images included in a plurality of image portion regions formed successively on an image carrier with an inter-image region being interposed. The liquid development apparatus includes a developer carrier and a control unit. Only a single developer carrier is provided so as to establish one-to-one relation with a single image carrier, it transports the developer to a development position opposed to the image carrier, and it develops the electrostatic latent image while it abuts to the image carrier. The control unit carries out prescribed control such that an amount of the developer supplied from the developer carrier to the inter-image region on the image carrier is reduced or set to zero.

摘要: An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier, a charging unit, an electrostatic latent image forming unit, a developing unit that contains a liquid developer containing a toner and a carrier solution and that develops an electrostatic latent image with the liquid developer to form a toner image on the surface of the image carrier, a transfer unit that transfers the toner image onto a recording medium, and a fixing unit that includes at least one pair of first and second rotating members that form a nip between the first and second rotating members. The following condition (A) is satisfied: the amount of the carrier solution on the surface of the toner image is about 0.7 g/m2 or less during passing of the recording medium through the nip of the most-downstream pair of the at least one rotating-member pair in the leading direction of the recording medium.

摘要: An apparatus for reducing ink droplets generated by bursting bubbles within an ink developer includes a surface directing an ink flow into a channel; and a protrusion within the channel that reduces ink droplets generated by bursting bubbles entrained within the ink flow. An ink developer includes an ink source supplying ink to the ink developer; an electrode which develops a portion of the ink onto a developer roller; and a splash guard which directs an undeveloped ink flow into a channel which has a reduced cross-section area configured to reduce bubbles exiting the channel and bursting.
