Abstract:
Modified alginates are described herein along with hydrogels comprising the same. A modified alginate may be prepared by reacting alginate and an aromatic compound (e.g., an aromatic amine) and/or pH sensitive compound. The modified alginates, hydrogels, and/or methods described herein may be used to coat and/or encapsulate at least a portion of a bioactive substance, optionally for oral delivery in humans and other animals.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to compositions and methods for treating cancer and, in particular, to composition and methods comprising nanostructures. In one embodiment, the present invention provides a composition comprising a mixture, the mixture comprising at least one nanoparticle and at least one chemotherapeutic.
Abstract:
A method of carrying out an autologous tissue implant in a subject in need thereof is carried out by: (a) forming an autologous tissue implant from autologous cells collected from a subject (e.g., by ink-jet printing, the autologous cells and the scaffold, separately or together), and then (b) implanting the autologous tissue implant in said subject.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of sensing pressure in a region of interest by providing a plurality of metallic particles operatively associated with one another in the region of interest (for example, wherein the metallic particles sustain a plasmon upon excitation), and with the metallic particles configured or positioned in relationship to one another so that a physical property of the particles (for example, the energy of the plasmon) varies in response to pressure; measuring the physical property of the metallic particles that varies in response to pressure; and then determining the pressure in the region of interest from the detected physical property (e.g., resistance, energy of the plasmon). Compositions, articles and formulations for carrying out the method in industrial and biomedical applications are also described.
Abstract:
Provided herein are compounds and compositions useful for imaging, detecting, and/or diagnosing oxidative stress and/or a ROS modulated illness by detection of gamma radiation emitted by the compound, as well as intermediate compounds and methods useful to make the compounds and/or compositions, and methods of use thereof.
Abstract:
Provided are methods of preparing organoids and compositions for use in such methods. In some embodiments, a method of depositing a plurality of the cells into a reservoir are provided, the method comprising depositing a gelatin composition into a reservoir; adding a composition comprising a plurality of cells into the gelatin composition, wherein the composition is added into the gelatin composition at a position below the surface of the gelatin composition and at least a portion of the composition and/or plurality of cells are suspended in the gelatin composition; curing at least a portion of the composition comprising the plurality of cells in the gelatin composition; and removing at least a portion of the gelatin composition in the reservoir, thereby depositing the plurality of cells in the reservoir.
Abstract:
A method for automatically controlling an expandable member in a blood vessel of a subject may comprise obtaining, using a controller, proximal sensor data from a proximal pressure sensor and distal sensor data from a distal pressure sensor, comparing the obtained proximal sensor data to a proximal pressure threshold value, adjusting, using the controller, a volume of the expandable member based on the distal sensor data in response to determining that the proximal sensor data is above or at the proximal pressure threshold value, and adjusting, using the controller, the volume of the expandable member based on the proximal sensor data in response to determining that the proximal sensor data is below the proximal pressure threshold value.
Abstract:
A compound comprising, in combination: a cell surface binding ligand or internalizing factor, such as an IL-13Rα2 binding ligand; at least one effector molecule (e.g., one, two, three or more effector molecules); optionally but preferably, a cytosol localization element covalently coupled between said binding ligand and said at least one effector molecule; and a subcellular compartment localization signal element covalently coupled between said binding ligand and said at least one effector molecule (and preferably with said cytosol localization element between said binding ligand and said subcellular compartment localization signal element). Methods of using such compounds and formulations containing the same are also described.
