In some embodiments, the composition is a composition formulated for controlled release of the compound of interest.
Abstract:
A coupler for connecting a drive shaft to a driven member and accommodating a substantial misalignment between the drive shaft and the driven member, while minimizing audible noise and vibration. The coupling includes a hollow core nest element having a plurality of slots formed in one end, two substantially identical elongate body elements, and a plurality of spring elements. Each elongate body element has two ends, a first end being adapted to couple with either the drive shaft or the driven member, and a second end that includes a plurality of posts that engage the slots of the hollow core nest. An aperture in the hollow core nest is larger than the diameter of the elongate bodies, allowing for the components to move radially relative to each other to accommodate for any offset and misalignment between the longitudinal axes of the drive shaft and the driven member, while the spring elements ensure that the components positively contact one another to reduce audible noise that is otherwise produced by loose fitting components. In one embodiment, a spring element is integrally formed in the slots of the hollow core nest, such that the posts of the body elements are held in engagement with sides of the slots by the spring elements. This embodiment includes an end cap that prevents the posts from becoming disengaged from the slots. Another embodiment employs helical coil springs mounted externally around the hollow core nest.

A mechanism (10) includes a slide plate (32) having die openings (38) adapted to hold dies (42a, 42b) and slideable relative to a cooker/extruder (12). Rotary cutters (74) are rotatably mounted relative to and moveable with the dies (42a, 42b). In one preferred form, a motor (76) can be connected and disconnected to the rotary cutter (74) aligned with the cooker/extruder (12) by a male coupling (96) including an elastomeric band (106) tensioned in a groove (102) formed in an outer peripheral surface (100) and received within the inside surface (116) of a cylindrical body (114) of a female coupling (108). Thus, it is not necessary to shut down the cooker/extruder (12) to service or change the dies (42a, 42b) and/or the rotary cutters (74). An annular wear plate (134) is sandwiched between the slide plate (32) and a frame element (18) having a central aperture (126) into which the barrel (14) of the cooker/extruder (12) is slideably received. A center plate (130) extends through the wear plate (134) and is received within the central aperture (126) and is fastened to the barrel (14). Mixer elements (59) are retained in the subpassageways (124) of the barrel (14) by the center plate (130) and can be removed through one of the die openings (38) when the die (42a, 42b) is removed therefrom and without removal of the barrel (14) from the frame element (18).

Abstract:
A white flowering dogwood tree showing better than usual cold and heat tolerance as well as bearing abundant multiple terminal floral bracts. This dogwood produces an unusual abundance of flowers as well as fruit, and exhibits a more pronounced broader than tall habit. There has been no appearance of anthracnose on this distinct variety of Cornus florida.

A connection device for connecting the strip conductors of a flat tape-like cable to corresponding conductor tracks on a printed circuit board, includes one member backed by a member for engaging the cable across its width and formed with projections for engaging the individual conductors, and a second, corresponding member for engaging the reverse side of the board. Pressure is applied between the members to establish a pressure connection between the conductors of the cable and the respective conductor tracks by means of latches forming part of the backing member and engaging surfaces at the ends of a member fixed to the second member.

This relates to filter columns for isolating nucleic acids, particularly at small elution volumes. The filter column is adapted for stable placement within the upper portion of standard plastic collection tubes of various sizes. The body of the filter column has a number of surfaces to accommodate placement within variously sized collection tubes. The filter column contains nucleic acid-specific filter which can be located at alternate regions within the filter column, providing different filter surface areas and loading volume capacities using the same column body. The filter column has an opening on an upper end adapted to be sealed by a cap. A method for recovering nucleic acids using such filter column is also provided.
Abstract:
Composite shaped foam articles of manufacture and method for fabricating such articles is disclosed. The articles are formed by providing a section of foam material, treating a first surface of the section of foam material with adhesive, providing a second section of flexible foam having a surface to be joined with a surface of the first section, treating at least one of the surfaces to be joined with a suitable adhesive, joining the treated surfaces of foam, deforming the joined sections of foam into a selected shape, and curing the adhesives whereby the joined sections of foam remain elastically deformed rather than restoring to their original unstressed condition thus maintaining their selected shape.
