Abstract:
A hot melt adhesive material dispensing system comprises two separate and independent rotary, gear-type metering pumps, or two separate and independent sets of pumps, which are able to output precisely metered amounts of hot melt adhesive material. The hot melt adhesive materials discharged are able to be independently outputted through suitable output devices onto a substrate to result in different outputted volumes of the hot melt adhesive material in accordance with predeterminedly desired patterns, or at predeterminedly desired locations. The hot melt adhesive materials may also have their volumetric outputs combined such that the discharged or outputted volumes of the hot melt adhesive material onto the substrate may be, for example, twice the outputted volumes of the hot melt adhesive outputted onto the substrate from only one of the two pumps, or from only one of the two pumps.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to relates to the use of trim sensors, registration sensors or pressure sensors to sense the position of a zipper during the manufacture of reclosable packages, particularly manufacturing processes wherein the ends of the zipper need to line up at the fin seal to insure success of the closure. The output of the sensors is used to adjust belt or roller speeds, or similar operational parameters to bring the zipper profiles into alignment at the fin seal.
Abstract:
A novel drive bit for mounting in a sleeve of a rotary driving tool for driving a slottedd screw having a hollow cap with a threaded interior cylindrical wall having an inner minor diameter comprises a driver portion at one end thereof and a sleeve engaging portion at the other end thereof, wherein the driver portion includes a generally cylindrical aligning portion with a predetermined diameter of between about 85% and about 99½% of the inner minor diameter and a pair of laterally opposed concave surfaces tapering at a predetermined radius of curvature of between about 50% and about 150% of the inner minor diameter to a generally rectangular flat headed tip for engaging the slot of the screw while the generally cylindrical aligning portion aligns the cap and the screw substantially coaxially with the bit.
Abstract:
The apparatus includes an extrusion die and further includes a main or primary extruder for the supply of material, such as low density polyethylene, to form the tubing for the manufacture of reclosable packages, bags or pouches. The apparatus further includes at least one secondary extruder, or co-extruder, for the extruding of each reclosable profile onto the tubing. The speed of the co-extruders is controlled so as to control the extrusion of the reclosable profiles.
Abstract:
A fastener connects a first object to a second object and includes an anchor securable to the second object and configured to have a portion thereof pass through a hole in the first object. A latch is connectable to the anchor on a side of the first object opposite the second object. The latch is connectable without tools, and provides clamping force for securing the objects to each other.
Abstract:
A motion translation mechanism is adapted for use in a vehicle seat-operated switch and is selectively responsive to the presence or absence of a downward vertical force. The motion translation mechanism includes a switch assembly having a plunger, a leaf spring, and coil spring. The coil spring is used to resiliently bias a first end portion of the leaf spring against a first stop. The second end portion of the leaf spring is operatively connected between a second stop and the plunger for moving laterally the plunger to a retracted position in response to the downward movement of an upwardly convexed central portion of the leaf spring so as to electrically actuate the switch assembly.
Abstract:
A method of printing a two-dimensional scannable code onto a corrugated cardboard product package using a flexographic printing press. The method includes spacing a relief on a flexographic printing press die for the two-dimensional scannable code in a machine direction to compensate for stretching of the corrugated cardboard as it passes through the flexographic printing press.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for MIG-MIG welding includes at least first and second sources (104,114) of wire, and first and second sources of power (102,112). The first source of wire provides a first wire (106) to a main arc between the first wire (106) and a workpiece (110). The first source of power (102) provides MIG power to a first current path including the first wire (106) and the workpiece (110). The second source of wire provides a second wire to a filler arc between the first wire (106) and the second wire (116). The second source of power (112) provides MIG power to a second current path including the first wire (106) and the second wire (116).
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for controlling a welding-type power supply includes providing a current wave form having an arc current portion and a short circuit current portion. An arc state is entered by retracting a welding wire, and a short circuit state is entered by advancing the wire. The current enters the arc current portion prior to the creation of the arc and the current enters the short circuit current portion prior to the creation of the short, by coordinating the wave form with the wire retraction. This may be preformed on a wire having a diameter of 2.4 mm or more to a weld and applying a welding current of less than 100 amps, or of less than 35 amps. One current waveform during the arc state includes at least three segments, and the last segment is entered into prior to the short circuit state being entered, and is the same current magnitude as the current magnitude at the start of the short circuit state. Penetration and/or bead formation may be controlled by controlling the advancement of the wire into the weld pool. The balance may be user set.
Abstract:
A magazine for a coiled strip of nails useable in nailing tools, combinations thereof and methods therefor, having generally a magazine tray with an inner post having a recessed axial slot formed therein, and a nail plate having an outer post extending therefrom. The outer post is reciprocatingly disposed about the inner post, and a pin disposed through the outer post is biased so that an enlarged head thereof is biased into a recess of the axial slot to axially fix the nail plate relative to the inner post.
