    Abstract: In one example, we describe a method and system for tables, beds, chairs, cabinets, bags, boxes, or appliances, to find the weight of an object or human conveniently and reliably, using Z-casters. Z-caster is based on Z-numbers, which is a pair of (A,B), where A is the value of the weight (based on and expressed as a Fuzzy parameter/value), and B is the reliability for that (expressed here as a Z-number). The calibration method is also described. Each basic unit has 2 types of sensors: for coarse measurement (just as a switch, with a rough/Fuzzy threshold) and for fine measurement. Many variations, examples, applications, and materials are shown here.

    Abstract: The disclosure provides a touch sensor unit. A conductive component is arranged between a pair of electrodes which are arranged inside an insulating tube, and the conductive component includes: a body section, which extends in a longitudinal direction of the insulating tube; and a convex section, which is arranged on an outer circumference of the body section, extends along the longitudinal direction of the body section, and sinks into the pair of electrodes. Short circuit or non-short circuit and so on of the electrodes can be detected by detecting the resistance value of the conductive component. Merely by inserting the conductive component into one end in the longitudinal direction of the electrodes, the pair of electrodes are electrically connected, and only the convex section sinks into the pair of electrodes, therefore the insertion load of the conductive component can be reduced, and the terminal treatment can be simplified.

    Abstract: A seat has a seat frame and a seat cushion supported by the seat frame. The seat cushion has an upper surface that supports a user and a lower surface defining a cavity. The seat cushion moves between an at rest condition in which no operator is seated on the seat, and a deflected condition in which the seat cushion is deflected with respect to the frame in response to an operator seated on the seat. A switch is mounted to the frame and opens and closes an electrical circuit in response to an actuating force. A switch actuator is mounted to the seat cushion lower surface in the cavity and moves between a non-actuating position when the seat is at rest and an actuating position when the seat is deflected. The switch actuator delivers the actuating force as the switch actuator is moved toward the actuating position.

    Abstract: The contact sensor includes a conductive fabric, an insulative spacer having multiple openings, and a conductive sheet of a sheet-shaped conductor. The insulative spacer is interposed between the conductive fabric and the conductive sheet. Upon contact of a soft object such as a human body portion on the conductive fabric with force equal to or greater than a certain strength, the insulative spacer sinks in the soft object with the conductive fabric interposed therebetween. The conductive fabric is deformable in conformity with insulative pieces of the insulative spacer, such that touching of a portion of the conductive fabric on the conductive sheet provides detection of contact of the soft object.

    Abstract: A leg electric shock switch of an electronic walking aid comprises an upper insulating plate having a restoring resilience; an upper electrode plate, installed below the upper insulating plate; a lower insulating plate; a lower electrode plate, installed above the lower insulating plate; an isolating element, being a plate made of an insulating material, and coupled between the upper electrode plate and the lower electrode plate, and including a plurality of through holes; such that if the upper insulating plate is touched and pressed, the upper electrode plate will produce a deformation, and the upper electrode plate will be passed through the through hole and electrically contacted and connected to the lower electrode plate. Therefore, the manufacturing procedure is simplified and the cost is lowered to achieve the effects of improving the cost-effectiveness of the manufacture, promoting the application of low-cost consuming materials, and enhancing the product competiveness.

    Abstract: In order to simplify the switching of medical or surgical equipment in an operating theatre, there is proposed a switching device for medical or surgical equipment which is characterised by a planar floor mat having sensors distributed over the surface area thereof, said sensors producing an electrical signal corresponding to the position of a foot of an operator on the floor mat when the foot is located near the respective sensor, and by a data processing system which is connected to the floor mat and is programmed in such a manner that it stores the instantaneous position of the foot on the floor mat as a starting position when activated by an activating signal, selects at least one switching area of the floor mat which has a predetermined location relative to the starting position, and produces a switching signal when the foot is located near a sensor in the switching area.
