Abstract:
Reclosable fastener includes a first track having a first engagement profile and a first retention feature extending therefrom, the first retention feature disposed substantially level with or above a bottom of the first engagement profile and having a first outward extension and a first upward extension extending upwardly from the first outward extension; a second track having a second engagement profile and a second retention feature extending therefrom, the second retention feature disposed substantially level with or above a bottom of the second engagement profile and having a second outward extension and a second upward extension extending upwardly from the second outward extension; and a slider disposed on the first and second tracks and interlocking the first and second engagement profiles together when moved from an open position toward a closed position along the first and second tracks. A method of forming a reclosable fastener is also provided.
Abstract:
A closure device for a thermoplastic bag which includes two opposing, longitudinally extending interlockable male and female fastening strips having respective male and female closure elements or profiles with outside wings that are deformed when the closure device is fully occluded.
Abstract:
A reclosable pouch comprises a body portion having first and second pouch walls. A first closure mechanism is disposed on internal sides of the first and second walls. The first closure mechanism includes a first female profile having first and second spaced legs and a first male profile. A second closure mechanism is disposed on the internal sides of the first and second pouch walls. The second closure mechanism includes a second female profile having third and fourth spaced legs and a second male profile. One of the first, second, third, or fourth spaced legs is longer than the other leg of the same female profile. Further, the first and second closure mechanisms comprise differing opening and closing characteristics.
Abstract:
A reclosable fastener (10) comprising a male/female closure between a pair of opposed base members (18) has a single flange (16) for attachment of the closure to a web or film (34) on one only of the two base members. The fastener is attached initially to the film (34) by the single flange and then the fastener is additionally attached to the film (34) by heat and pressure applied in the region of attachment ribs (30) on the base members.
Abstract:
A press-on closure, in particular a press-on closure tape, preferably made of plastics, comprises at least one groove member having a groove and at least one engagement member having an engagement element. The groove member has funnel-shaped webs with inwardly pointing projections. To create a press-on closure or a press-on closure tape, which can be closed even more easily and reliably, a supporting post is each provided on each side of the engagement element.
Abstract:
The closure device (121) includes interlocking fastening strips (130, 131) and a slider (132) slidably disposed on the fastening strips for facilitating the occlusion and deocclusion of the fastening strips when moved towards first and second ends thereof. A flexible slider (132) is provided for facilitating the attachment of the slider onto the fastening strips (130, 131) in the vertical Z axis (106). The slider (132) includes legs (240, 242) which provide resistance against the removal of the slider from the fastening strips (130, 131) in the vertical Z axis (106) thereafter. The closure device also provides resistance against the removal of the slider (132) from the fastening strips (130, 131) in the horizontal X axis (102).
Abstract:
A reusable bi-directional, fluid-tight, vertical sealing device for closing, sealing, and permitting re-opening of, flexible bags, with two sealing strips arranged to be interlocked and uninterlocked by a slider which has internal means such as rails acting upon the sealing strips so as to move them into a vertically interlocked fluid-tight sealing contact capable of holding a vacuum without leakage and of resisting pressure differences in either direction across the seal, so that the efficacy of the seal is improved by increases in the pressure differential. The word nullfluidnull is used in its usual meaning of liquid or gas or a mixture of both, and, in addition, powder, and nullverticalnull herein means in the plane of interior contact of the sheets of the bag when empty and hanging vertically.
Abstract:
A new self-mating mechanical fastener is disclosed, which comprises a base sheet and a multiplicity of parallel, narrowly spaced, elastically deformable ribs projecting from the base sheet. The ribs comprise a stem portion attached to and substantially upright from the base sheet and at least one flange attached to each side of the stem portion and spaced from the base sheet. At least the outer portions of the flanges desirably project toward the base sheet. The cross-sectional profile formed by the ribs is substantially uniform over the length of the ribs, but in the direction transverse to the ribs has a regularly repeated deviation from the profile that would be formed by a full population of equally spaced, identical, undivided, symmetric ribs. An individual rib has a width that is accommodated between the stem portions of adjacent ribs but is greater than the gap between the facing flanges of adjacent ribs, whereby the ribbed surface of the fastener can be interengaged with and connected to an identical ribbed surface.
Abstract:
The zipper includes zipper tape with a narrow band of untreated surface on the leading edges of the flanges that permits the tack sealing of the flanges together by non-continuous sealing bars. This prevents the leading edge of the flanges from curling or flipping up thereby reducing the tendency of a leading edge of a zipper from jamming as the web moves over the collar of a form fill and seal apparatus.
Abstract:
A recloseable package is disclosed having a front wall and a rear wall. A thermoplastic zipper male base member is disposed at a top end of the first wall and a thermoplastic zipper female base member is disposed at a top end of the second wall. The base members each have a profile which extends transversely across the walls. The profiles are each disposed between a product side web and a consumer side web. A heat resistant barrier is provided on facing surfaces of the male and female product side webs, extending from product side longitudinal edges of the base members toward the associated profiles. The male and female base members are heat sealed to the first and second walls, respectively, opposite to the heat resistant barriers which are resistant to heat sealing to each other. The facing surfaces of the consumer side webs may likewise have heat resistant barrier layers, in which case the package is sealed above the consumer side webs. Alternatively, the facing surfaces of the consumer side webs may be provided with peel seal layers which fuse together when the consumer side webs are heat sealed to the bag walls, thereby forming a top seal for the package. A zipper for use in the disclosed package is also disclosed.
